In one image shared via social media, the “Hips Don’t Lie” hitmaker is seen with diamond tears running down her cheeks as she stares away from the camera into the distance. The zoomed-in snap is followed by a view of her lying on a bed of shiny green objects while wearing a mauve dress and sky-high silver heels.

A third picture features the singer in a metallic bra top, and a fourth shows her in a black deep-v top and matching leather pants. In a statement accompanying the photo, Shakira informed her 90.5 million followers:

“My new album, which comes out on March 22nd, is the album I created with all of you, the pack of wolves who have been there for me every step of the way. Making this body of work has been an alchemical process. While writing each song I rebuild myself. While singing it, my tears turned into diamonds, and my weakness became strength.

Regarding her tax fraud case, The Blast reports that Shakira signed a plea deal with the Spanish Government after facing charges of failing to pay approximately $15 million in taxes between 2012 and 2014.

As part of the deal, the 47-year-old was slapped with a three-year suspended sentence and required to pay back taxes with interest, along with an $8 million (7.3 million euro) fine.

Despite accepting a plea deal and pleading guilty to the charges in court, Shakira continues to maintain her innocence. In a statement released by her legal team, she explained that she only agreed to the deal to protect her children from the emotional stress of a civil legal battle against the government.

Shakira’s Hometown Honors Her With A Giant Belly Dancing Statue

It should be noted that his legal troubles did not prevent his hometown from honoring him with a statue. The sculpture, a tribute to Shakira’s contribution to the world of music and dance, stands at a monumental 21.3 feet tall and weighs six tons in the Colombian city of Barranquilla.

Attached to the statue is a plaque summarizing the Queen of Latin Music’s multifaceted legacy, with a translated version reading in part, “A heart that composes, hips that don’t lie, talent that’s unmatched, a voice that moves the masses, and legs. who march for the good of children and humanity.”

Since the Grammy Award winner was unfortunately unable to attend the ceremony in person, her parents, William Mebarak Chadid and Nidia del Carmen Ripoll Torrado, stood in her place.

Shakira expressed her appreciation for the honor as her parents watched proudly standing in front of the towering statue.

“Ay y esta dedicatoria. Esto es demasiado para mi corazoncito,” he wrote, which loosely translates to “Oh and this dedication. This is too much for my little heart.”
