Shakira Receives Love For Quitting World Cup Performance

Shakira will not repeat her “Waka Waka” to the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The Colombian native famously sang the song at the 2010 World Cup and happened to meet her ex-partner, Gerard Piqué, on the set of the music video.

The World Cup in Qatar is just around the corner, and Shakira pulled out of action at the last minute.

Shakira has a lot going on in her personal life at the moment. She split from her partner of almost 12 years over the summer and a fierce custody battle ensued. It was settled and he was moving his two young sons to Miami, FL. in early 2023.

According to “El programa de Ana Rosa,” Shakira changed her mind about the performance a few days before the start of the World Cup.

“It has been confirmed to me that Shakira will not perform at the opening ceremony, but they will not say whether she will have another role throughout the World Cup,” said Adriana Dorronsoro at the program.
