Marvel star Simu Liu keeps it real!
Fans may remember that Liu updated the world via social media not too long ago about prioritizing his mental health, which he believes will make him “more than a superhero.” However, it has been revealed that in the middle of that phase, he also went through a breakup with his ex-girlfriend and co-star, Jade Bender.

During an interview at Dreamforce, a major tech conference in San Francisco hosted by Salesforce, Liu was surprisingly tight-lipped about the split. According to a SFGate report, he was prompted to do so when Salesforce executive vice president Jody Kohner asked about his mental health at the Yerba Buena Arts Theater Center.
Kohner wondered how the movie star was following her mental health update on the gram about starting therapy, so she asked, “How are you doing today?” He replied, “I’m OK, I’m OK,” before pausing and adding, “I’m learning to put myself first; I became more comfortable with the idea of therapy and a support system.”
Liu recently realized how tired she was as she went through moments feeling like she was living her dream but not really feeling like she was where she needed to be with herself. He later confirmed the breakup, prompting an outpouring of sympathy from the audience. He said:
“I will also go through a separation. That might also contribute to it, but that’s okay; I’ll be fine.”
The Chinese-born actress may be talking about her relationship with Bender, given that they were last seen together in public in mid-August. Concluding his talk at Dreamforce, he expressed his thoughts on balancing one’s objectives with self-care by stressing the importance of setting goals in a healthy way to allow one to take time for oneself.
In addition to Liu’s presence at the event, other stars who made appearances included Matthew McConaughey, Jennifer Hudson, Laverne Cox, and Jane Goodall.
The Canadian entertainer’s big reveal comes nearly two weeks after her mental health post, in which she wrote a lengthy message on Instagram about the matter, adding a throwback photo of herself at the world premiere of “Shang-Chi.”
Co-stars Awkwafina and Destin Daniel, who she tagged, were also featured in the photo, beaming as they posed side-by-side at the carpet event. Liu’s message began with an acknowledgment of the release of the Marvel superhero movie exactly one year earlier, which changed his life and has been “nothing less than the absolute best ride.”
The star mentioned that as someone who gained significant fame after that, he was introduced to a life he had “no business” and was not prepared to deal with the mental consequences of living his life in the public eye.
However, with time, she was able to reflect and see that while she was having the time of her life, she “also neglected to take the necessary time to check in on myself and prioritize my mental health.”
While filming several films and writing his memoirs, the 33-year-old stuntman barely had time to breathe and was so obsessed with the idea of ”representing his community” that he overworked himself. So, in light of the anniversary of the release of “Shang-Chi,” he excitedly announced that he’s undergoing therapy, focusing on his health, and on his way to becoming a “good, good man.”
“We Were Dreamers” Author’s Rejection Of “Crazy Rich Asians” Boosts His Self-Confidence
Before becoming a Marvel star, Liu was interested in starring in the 2018 hit movie “Crazy Rich Asians” but was unfortunately rejected after four auditions. He revealed this in a recent hat that The Blast reported, stating that at the time, he was an upcoming star on the TV program “Kim’s Convenience.”
In another interview on the “How To Fail With Elizabeth Day” podcast, the ACTRA Award nominee explained more about the experience revealing that she asked her agent for an explanation for the rejection.
He did so because he initially felt he had “really positive feedback” but was later told he didn’t have “that factor” to be cast in the film. Liu was crushed and felt like she wasn’t good enough but eventually realized that the rejection changed her, making her more confident in her abilities.
