A young German-Israeli tattoo artist who was paraded through the streets of Gaza after being kidnapped by Hamas has been found dead after “sadistic” terrorists “beheaded him,” Israel’s president revealed Monday.
“I am truly sorry to report that we have now received the news that Shani Nicole Louk has been confirmed murdered and dead,” President Isaac Herzog told German newspaper Bild.
“His skull was found,” he said, with the family of the 23-year-old victim also confirming the death was confirmed by DNA on part of his skull.
“This means that these barbaric and sadistic animals only cut off their heads when they attack, torture and kill Israelis.
“It is a great tragedy and I offer my condolences to his family,” the president said, according to a translation by i24 News.
“What we see on the Gaza-Israel border goes far beyond pogroms. We saw a slaughterhouse,” he said.
“We saw blood flowing in the streets. We have seen the most horrific tragedy imaginable,” Herzog concluded.
Louk, 23, became a symbol of Hamas horror when terrorists seized him from a festival near Kibbutz Re’im when more than 1,400 people, mostly civilians, were killed on Oct. 7.

The tattoo artist’s mother, Ricarda Louk, also confirmed that she had been informed of her daughter’s death, she told German news agency dpa on Monday.
Despite early news that her daughter survived the initial attack, her mother now believes she was actually killed that same day, possibly shot in the head.
“At least he is not suffering,” Ricarda Louk told German broadcaster RTL/ntv.
He said his daughter’s body has not yet been found, but fragments of skull bones were found and submitted for DNA testing that confirmed her death.
More than 260 were killed at the site of the Tribe of Nova dance show in the Negev Desert music festival, according to the Israeli rescue service Zaka.
Shani Louk was last seen dancing at the warm reception before the militants closed in. As the terrorists flooded the festival, Louk called his mother to tell her he was trying to get to his car to leave. A few hours later, Shani’s family came across disturbing footage of his seemingly lifeless body lying in the back of a pickup truck surrounded by armed men.
The gunmen chanted “Allahu Akbar” — Arabic for “God is Great” — as they paraded Shani’s body, eventually taking it to the Gaza Strip, the video showed.
Louk, a tattoo artist, has lived in Israel but spent part of his childhood in Portland, Oregon, where he attended kindergarten at the Portland Jewish Academy.
