The artist opened up about her condition after learning that she may never be able to do what she loves to do the most, singing, because of Lyme disease.
The disease is caused by bacteria transmitted to humans by infected ticks, with symptoms including fever, headache, fatigue, and a characteristic skin rash.
In a recent chat on “Lorraine” with Lorraine Kelly, the “party for two” singer opened up about her fears and experiences.
“It’s quite sad and devastating to imagine,” he said Daily Mail. “Even speaking is difficult with Lyme disease. Now I feel so grateful that I can sing and express my feelings.”
Twain also discussed how the procedure was carried out, revealing it was done while he was sober.
“You have to stay awake while they do it. I’m more afraid of not singing anymore than undergoing surgery,” he said. “The reason you have to be awake for surgery is because you have to sing during the operation so they know what to do.”

Elsewhere in her chat with Lorraine, the Grammy award-winning singer talked about her new album “Queen of Me” and what it represents, calling it “free-spirited.”
Twain, while reckoning with Lorraine’s thoughts about the album representing her triumph over the challenges she faced, indicated that she was only comfortable in her own skin, explaining that it took a long time to get here and that she wished “she would have gotten there sooner. “
The singer explained that “Queen of Me” was her first album since her struggles before declaring that it was her “celebration album.”
“The celebration, the music, being happy, putting myself in a great spirit, and sharing that spirit with everyone,” he said, referring to what “Ratu Aku” represents.

The “You’re Still The One” hitmaker revealed that she has implants in her body to reduce the effects of surgery on her voice but admitted she doesn’t know how long the procedure will take, per Irish Examiner.
“I have two new body parts,” he said. “This implant can shift, it won’t work anymore, at some point, if my own anatomy keeps giving way. So I’m just making the most of it now. I can’t wait to get back in the studio and make more records while I still can.”
Twain later stated that she could always have another surgery but preferred not to. “I’ll probably stop singing altogether at some point if that happens but I have more records I want to make first. So I want to get there,” he explained.
He had to relearn how to use his voice so he could speak and sing again. “It has experimented a lot. I use the album as a place to experiment. But it was a lot of fun. It was a really fun discovery,” he said.
