Shannen Doherty is focused on living her best life amid her ongoing — and heartbreaking — health crisis.
While living with stage 4 cancer has certainly been difficult for her, the “Beverly Hills 90210” actress has chosen to remain her honest and optimistic self, recently claiming that she still has a lot of life left in her.
Doherty was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 and went into remission two years later. However, in February 2020, the “Charmed” alum revealed that her cancer had returned the previous year and was classified as stage 4.

More than five months after revealing that her cancer had spread to her brain, Doherty has shared another update, revealing that it has now metastasized to her bones. Speaking about the latest wrench in his health, the 52-year-old stated:
“I don’t want to die. I’m not done with life. I’m not done making love yet. I haven’t finished creating. I’m not done hoping to change things for the better. I’m not—I’m not done.”
She shares that her cancer diagnosis has greatly affected her perspective on life, prompting her to find a greater purpose. In his words:
“When you ask yourself, ‘Why me? Why did I get cancer?’ and then ‘Why did my cancer come back? Why am I level 4?,’ which leads you to find a greater purpose in life.
Doherty revealed earlier this year that she had to undergo surgery to remove a brain tumour, giving insight into her journey on social media. As she explained to PEOPLE about the procedure, “It was definitely one of the scariest things I’ve ever been through in my entire life.”
Despite the scare, the “Rendering” actor remained motivated by his determination to work again, drawing strength from the support of loved ones.
After revealing that her “greatest memories are still to come” and how she often prays “for things that are important to me without asking too much,” the “Little House on the Prairie” actress delves into how living with cancer has affected how she sees things.
“I know it sounds cheesy and crazy, but you know better than anything, and you feel so blessed. We are the people who want to work the most, because we are so grateful for every moment, every hour, every day we get to be here,” he said.

Doherty Files for Divorce Amid Cancer Battle
In addition to her troubled health, Doherty also dealt with a falling apart marriage when she filed for divorce from her estranged husband Kurt Iswarienko in April. Shortly after news of the filing broke, her rep publicly stated that while a divorce was the last thing she wanted at the time, the Memphis native “felt she had no other choice.”
According to court documents obtained by The Blast, the “Shannen Says” star has filed a “preliminary disclosure declaration that includes, assets and debts, community and separate property, and a declaration of current income and expenses.”
The filing indicated that Doherty had handed over all financial details to her ex-partner, began negotiations for the division of their assets and finances and suggested that the former couple were on the verge of finalizing their divorce.
The news of the domestic dispute shocked fans, especially those who realized how seriously he took the commitment.
