Shannon Beador’s Ex Slams Her With Promissory Fraud Suit After DUI Drama

Shannon Beador won’t be taking a break from her ex-boyfriend John Janssen anytime soon, as she’s determined to collect on the alleged loan.

The former lover of the “Real Housewives of Orange County” star recently sued him to recover $75,000 in debt. Although this legal drama is frustrating for Beador, he hopes it will end his chapter with Janssen.

Janssen filed his case against Beador in Orange County Superior Court, suing him for breach of oral contract and promissory estoppel, among other things. The finale is to collect the $75,000 he claims he has repeatedly failed to pay.

In the complaint, the former Bravolebrity recalled that she needed her financial assistance twice in 2022. Beador reportedly borrowed $40,000 via wire transfer on January 23, 2022, for a facelift procedure.

He collected a second loan of $35,000 on May 20, 2023, which Janssen sent him by personal check. The angry ex claims Beador agreed to repay the money with interest; however, he failed to do so despite several requests in 2023 and 2024.

Janssen, according to legal documents obtained by PEOPLE, is fighting to recover the full amount, including accrued interest, costs and reasonable attorneys’ fees. Meanwhile, Beador claims they can settle their differences without courtroom drama.

The “RHOC” alum addressed Janssen’s lawsuit in an emotional statement, stating that things should not have turned out the way they did. However, he did not fight the case because he wanted a quick resolution.

“I am shocked and disappointed that John has filed a lawsuit. My attorney has been in constant communication with his attorney,” Beador explained, adding:

“I agreed to pay John what he wanted because I knew that the attorney fees would exceed the amount requested, but more importantly, to eliminate the negative emotional component that comes with a lawsuit.”

“It is important that I continue to focus on the positive aspects of my life and move forward,” he continued.

Beador Tries To Calm Her Ex

Beador stated in his statement that he tried to arrange the loan drama behind the scenes, but Janssen refused, stating: “John rejected the offer because he refused to sign the agreement without underestimating together.”

In addition, she emphasized her desire to permanently sever her relationship with her ex, saying: “I hope that if I comply with his baseless demands, at least we can use this as an opportunity to completely close this chapter in my life.”

Beador, according to Janssen’s lawyer, also described the money as a “gift” — something her ex vehemently denied and allegedly had evidence to back up her narrative.

“Ms. Beador’s defense that Mr. Janssen paid her $75,000 as a ‘gift’ is entirely without merit, as their emails and text messages will show,” Edson K. McClellan of Rutan & Tucker LLP alleged.

The legal representative went on to say, “Mr. Janssen is saddened that Ms. Beador’s refusal to repay the loan made it necessary to file this lawsuit.”

In Ex-Partner Relationships

The Bravolebrity was previously married to David Beador from 2000 to 2019, a long union that ended in an expensive divorce. After the end of their chapter, the reality TV star met Janssen through a mutual friend.

Beador confirmed their romance in July 2019 with an Instagram post of the couple in Newport Beach. At the time, a source raved about his newfound happiness, calling Janssen “the right guy at the right time.”

Janssen also gained a good reputation with Bravo fans for supporting her then-boyfriend through “RHOC” seasons 15 and 16, with the two’s relationship looking to be going strong heading into 2022. That April, Beador told longtime host Andy Cohen the couple had discussed marriage.

“We’re talking about it, but it’s not something we need to rush into,” he revealed. Unfortunately, seven months later, Janssen changed his mind and broke off their relationship.

Shannon Beador ‘Blinded’ By Their Breakup

The former couple split shortly after filming for “RHOC” season 17 ended in November 2022. At the time, Janssen claimed it was “really hard” to end things with Beador because he loved her “deeper than any woman” in his life .

Despite her deep affection for the reality TV star, Janssen insists that she no longer believes in their relationship. As for why she pulled the plug after the Bravo show finished filming, she explained that she didn’t want their breakup to play out on TV.

Meanwhile, Beador claims she was “blindsided” by their breakup because nothing seemed out of place until a week after RHOC season 17 ended. In his words:

“We were in a good place. But seven days later, when the cameras were off, it was a completely different story. He told me he was done with the relationship.”

Beador Embraces Sobriety After DUI Arrest

Last December, Beador made waves for receiving sobriety following his DUI arrest three months earlier. He was spotted drinking water on the second season premiere of Amazon’s “Hollywood Houselift with Jeff Lewis.”

As other guests enjoyed alcoholic beverages at the event, eyewitnesses claimed Beador resisted his temptations and appeared in high spirits. He seems to have learned a valuable lesson about drinking since his DUI arrest.

In September, the Bravo star was hit with three misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence. However, he accepted a plea deal to receive three years of probation, 40 hours of community service, a $390 fine, and an order to participate in a First Offender Alcohol program for nine months.
