Shantilal Mukherjee was born in Sarsuna, South West Kolkata. He did his schooling from Sarsuna High School, Kolkata and New Alipore Multipurpose School in Kolkata. Later, he pursued a Bachelor of Science from Ashutosh College in Kolkata.

Some of his popular Bengali films are ‘Moner Manush’ (2010), ‘Buno Haansh’ (2014), ‘Byomkesh Bakshi’ (2015), ‘Byomkesh O Chiriakhana’ (2016), and ‘Michhil’ (2020).
He has appeared in many Hindi films, such as ‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’ (2016) and ‘Kahaani’ (2012).

There are times when I just work as a driver for the team. I would drive the actors around and keep the food supply flowing for them. I still remember when I got out of the car so that the director and his actors could continue their brainstorming session. Rwitobroto even complained that there should have been more soft drinks and I immediately ran to the local shop.”
