After losing a bet last week, it’s time for Shaquille O’Neal to eat a frog. Literally. But what he did Tuesday night on “NBA on TNT” didn’t exactly pay off.
The bet between O’Neal and costar Ernie Johnson about who would win the 2023 NCAA College Football National Championship game went like this – “When Georgia beats TCU, I’m going to eat some frogs. I’ll eat a horned frog,” O’Neal said, to which Johnson replied, “I’d love to see that,” before the two sealed the deal with a handshake. O’Neal lost the bet!

So, the big question now is will O’Neal hedge his bets? The answer is: he tried but failed. And not in the way you think. Although the NBA legend and NBA host on TNT actually admitted that he had to eat a frog after losing a bet, he actually didn’t eat a frog. He brought a plate of something that looked like fried frog legs but wasn’t. Adam Lefkoe called it out saying it was chicken and even tried a piece to be sure.
“What is this? Is this what I think because of Georgia’s victory?” Lefkoe asked as he picked up a plate of chicken and placed it on the table. “Are these frog legs?” O’Neal replied, “They sure are.”
Lefkoe later said he wanted O’Neal to eat the frog Thursday night during the show when Johnson showed up just before he opened the lid and said, “Shaq, that’s chicken.” Although O’Neal insists that it’s actually a frog’s leg, Lefkoe isn’t having it and tells him, “You need to stop lying.”
They both bite the supposed frog’s leg and Lefkoe announces, “America, it’s chicken. This is embarrassing. Be true to your word with Ernie. Georgia raved about them.” O’Neal then agreed to do it right on Thursday.

Also on Tuesday night, Jamal Crawford made his debut on “NBA on TNT” as the newest addition to the crew, and O’Neal made sure to include him in the group with a joke. Crawford, the three-time Sixth Man of the Year winner joined O’Neal, Lefkoe and Candace Parker on Tuesday’s NBA coverage show.
In typical O’Neal fashion, he playfully asked Crawford if he would look her in the eye. As Crawford eyed the former NBA star warily, O’Neal said, “Hit him.” Seconds later, popcorn falls from the ceiling onto an unsuspecting Crawford.

Laughter all around as O’Neal said, “Get him! Got him! Welcome! Welcome to the show.” The clip then shows how O’Neal orchestrated the hilarious prank. Crawford held himself back and laughed along with everyone. “It’s the new hazing,” Lefkoe said. “There’s a look in Jamal’s eyes now, that I see revenge.” Crawford then warned, “It’s not over. It’s not over yet. It is the beginning.”
