Sharna Burgess’ dream has finally come true, and she is officially an American citizen!
The “Dancing With the Stars” pro dancer recently celebrated being sworn in as an American citizen in a touching social media post. Burgess has had many milestones — such as the birth of her son, meeting her partner, and having a thriving career as a dancer — happen to her in the land of the free.
Therefore, he is more than aware of his latest achievements.
Sharna Burgess Is Now In America
On Friday, the ballroom dancer took to Instagram to share the great news with a clip of her being sworn in at the US Department of Homeland Security. Burgess looked pretty and casual in a black tank top paired with jeans.

She accessorized with lots of gold bracelets and necklaces and smiled widely while holding a US flag across her chest. The Australian native wasn’t alone in the big moment as her boyfriend Brian Austin Green was around to take some pictures with his lady during the monumental moment.
The heartwarming video was shot in Whitney Houston’s recording of the national anthem, and in the accompanying caption, the “So You Think You Can Dance” alum gets candid about the journey to achieving this milestone. “Today something really amazing happened :),” Burgess began his caption.
The 37-year-old continued, “I didn’t know it was going to be emotional for me. This has been my home for almost 12 years now. My son was born here, my life, my love, and my career…it’s all here. But the last step to becoming a citizen and finally having the same rights that all Americans feel is very important. Maybe it’s because I’ve lived outside of Australia since I was 18, so it’s mostly been out of a suitcase and from one country to another.”
The mother-of-one spoke of never having the chance to vote somewhere and feeling like a “Gypsy looking for belonging”. Burgess stated that he dreaded staying in one place while also longing for the safety of the place. However, all those worries disappeared when he moved to the United States.
“But then, America slowly became my permanent home. Finally, I found my tribe here, I bought a house here, I fell in love here, I gave birth to my child here. Now, this last step is the period at the end that I never knew I needed so much,” the dancer confessed.
She ended her heartfelt post by celebrating the fact that “a very long chapter of finding belonging is finally over.” The “DWTS” season 27 winner declared, “I, Sharna Burgess, am a citizen of the United States, and I’m here. 🥹🙏🏻.”
Burgess was inundated with congratulatory messages from her “DWTS” family. Cheryl Burke wrote, “Congratulations, my love 🤍🇺🇸,” while Gleb Savchenko added, “Congratulations, that’s so amazing and important 🎉.”
Baby Zane Is Three Months Old!
Burgess’s achievement as an American citizen came shortly after she marked a major milestone for her son, who she celebrated with Green. In late September, baby Zane Walker turned three months old, and the doting mom took to social media to pour out her heart.
As The Blast reports, the television personality shared a heartwarming video of the little one being born in some of the most monumental moments ever since she welcomed him. In the accompanying caption, Burgess dotes on her little one, writing, “Your 3 months 🤍 3 months watching you grow, being in awe of you and experiencing a love I’ve never known.”
The Ballroom dancer admits that “Motherhood is by far the greatest thing” she’s ever done, and she’s forever grateful for it. She ended her caption by writing, “Wonder, love, fear, sleepless nights, and memories. I am the luckiest Mama in the whole country.”
Burgess and Green welcomed their first child together in July and have since been showing off the little bundle of joy at every opportunity.
