Sharna Burgess Gets Candid About Not Having Completely Flat Stomach Postpartum: ‘Work In Progress’

While other mums may envy Sharna Burgess’s fit frame after welcoming her first child, Zane, just a year ago, she tells them she’s not completely healthy.

Burgess, who had a C-section during childbirth, recently posted a bikini photo of herself, showing off her trim midsection, raising questions about how she got there. The Australian celebrity got “transparent” on the subject, revealing that while she’s always fit, her stomach isn’t as flat as people think.

Sharna Burgess Tells Fans She’s Still Struggling To Stay In Shape After Giving Birth

During a recent Instagram Q&A session, a struggling follower asked Burgess for “the best exercise routine for a flat stomach after a C-section,” prompting the dance star to explain that she’s still on “the journey.” She recalled the bikini photo she shared, saying it was taken at an “amazing angle,” and she felt “so good” at the time.

Touching on her body’s challenges after the C-section procedure, Burgess said she felt her muscles were in a slightly different place. He further mentioned that he got some “diastasis recti of about three-quarters of an inch,” which he is still working on closing.

“It’s hard,” said the “DWTS” champion. “What you see is because I’ve been fit all my life. I have always been blessed with a great body and definition.”

She added, “I also have a long body where I think it’s only appropriate for her to look fit and fit my whole life, stay fit throughout my pregnancy, but I still really struggle with it.”

Burgess then continued in a second video, pointing to different parts of his stomach, highlighting the different positions of his muscles. She noted that while she looks great, the same cannot be said for every part of her body. Touching the C-section scar, she said, “My C-section scar is here, and it’s attached, so it won’t move down.”

“So I have a hole like this where there’s, I can’t explain it, but there’s like I can’t connect to any muscle; it’s really a hole,” added the ballroom dancer.

Drawing the audience’s attention to another part of her stomach, she mentions that she has “more muscle control.” However, when Burgess turns to the side in the clip, she reveals that she can’t pull her abs without warming up and doing a full workout.

She explained more in the attached text, declaring that she is still progressing with her postpartum fitness journey. In his words:

“I mean to say I look great, but there are things you don’t see. Weight-wise, I’m definitely small, but as far as strength and control, I’m still a work in progress.”

Speaking about the 38-year-old’s recent bikini posts that have raised questions about her fitness, she took to her Instagram Story with a mirror selfie showing her in a blue bikini, posing barefoot on the stairs.

Her midsection looks fat-free, as do her sculpted thighs and calves. Also, her hair looked tousled as she accessorized with bracelets, watches and necklaces.

Previously, Burgess talked about never feeling pressured to lose all her baby weight after giving birth, even though she wanted to return to “DWTS.”
