Sherri Shepherd did things differently despite the ongoing significance of the writers’ strike.
It’s been months since the Writers Guild of America began their strike action, and so many celebrities, including actors, have shown solidarity. However, Sherri Shepherd has made important decisions following her talk show and setting the record straight to ease tensions and address raised eyebrows after her actions.
Season 2 of ‘Sherri’ Returns And Sherri Shepherd Clears the Air
Unlike co-stars Drew Barrymore and Bill Maher, who pulled Shplugs on their talk shows, Shepherd made the season 2 premiere of “Sherri” on Monday and got down to business. The podcaster didn’t hesitate to inform viewers that reopening the talk show did not violate the WGA’s ongoing strike rules.
He said some of Hollywood’s biggest stars and actors “have been on the picket lines with the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes.” He continued that there is a lot of gray area about who should work or not work. In his words:
“Well, I’m a SAG-AFTRA actor, and I actually marched with some of my colleagues while in Los Angeles recently. That’s me with Viola Davis, Niecy Nash.”
Shepherd revealed that, unlike other shows, he never used the services of any WGA writers because he belonged to a different association himself. The actress said, “Sherri’s show is not a WGA show, and we never employ WGA writers, so we went back to work not crossing the picket line.”
The comedian explained that talk shows are usually under a different union contract code, and everyone except the WGA show is allowed to return to the screen. Shepherd further explained that he writes his jokes, and the comedic headlines that audiences everywhere see are the result of his creative genius.
In a true spirit of solidarity, Shepherd delivered a heartfelt statement to the concerned bodies with the hope of a speedy resolution. He added:
“I stand in solidarity with my union. One of the things we strive for is better waste. … the rest of my idle time keeps the lights on. My balance helped me take care of Jeffrey when he was born at 25 weeks. So a good residual payment is important to actors.”
Regarding the current wave of artificial intelligence in the creative industry, Shepherd insists it can only replace some writers. In his words, “I’m here to tell you, AI cannot replace all these regrets.”
Jennifer Hudson’s talk show has also been postponed despite previously announcing a return on September 18.

To commemorate season 2 of his talk show, Shepherd dropped the big news about an important surgical procedure. The “Beauty Shop” star revealed on July 13 that she underwent breast reduction surgery following comments about her being too “heavy.”
However, the 56-year-old clarified that the comments did not influence his decision. Instead, he had a very funny reason for going under the knife. According to him:
“I got a breast job because I just wanted to see what it was like to sleep on my stomach.”
Shepherd, who described the process as bittersweet, stated that she is a 42DD and revealed that her “old girl and “good friend” has been with her through it all. The decision to cut back came after episodes of severe pain and postural deformities. Shepherd continued:
“It’s very heavy. I bend over all the time. It started to get really, really painful. My back hurts a lot.”
Shepherd, however, was very happy with the results of her procedure, stating that she feels better and that it couldn’t have happened at a better time. The actress revealed “I can sit up straighter. I feel lighter. It’s easier to shop…I wake up every day and I send pictures of my breasts to everyone.”
But this decision has been months in the making ET shared his plan to tone it down in April when asked about his plans for the summer. “I think I’m getting my chest ready. I think I got a little bit of a reduction because my back started hurting, so that was a big one,” the actor gleefully spilled.
