The actress is beloved in Hollywood, especially because she gave a stellar performance as Barbara Howard in the ABC mockumentary sitcom “Abbott Elementary.” This role earned her an Emmy award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, making her the first black woman to win in 35 years. Sheryl Lee Ralph Reveals She Will Join “The White Lotus” For Season 3
Ralph — a winner at the Critics’ Choice Awards — shared a story about meeting The White Lotus alum and fellow winner of the night, Jennifer Coolidge, a few years ago, then showered her with compliments. He said:
“Listen, I met Jennifer in New Orleans a few years ago, and she’s exactly what you think. So, when I see her joy and happiness and winning now, it’s proof to me that you can look any way, you can be whatever your age is, all you have to do is be in the moment and embrace it, and I’ m received it for Jennifer Coolidge. During an interview with E! News, the “Motherland: Fort Salem” actress was asked if she might join the upcoming season of the HBO series. Ralph says, “Honey, please” before singing passionately, “Call me. Don’t be afraid to just call me.”
As a casting director, the female reporter suggested a guest appearance role for Coolidge on the 66-year-old’s current show. Ralph agreed that he would be “great” before adding, “But it’s all up to my boss, Quinta Brunson.”
The conversation turns to the show or movie Ralph is watching; he revealed that he watched “Everything, All Together, All At Once, Today, Tomorrow, Every day” because he was part of the Oscar Awards voting committee.
The HBO series “The White Lotus” has quickly established itself as a favorite among critics and fans, but it has also gained popular recognition among actors. The third season has begun rolling, and according to The Blast, it will focus on new characters and new locations.
The show originally debuted in July 2021, set in Hawaii. However, regarding the renewal, HBO officials announced that next season will follow a new set of visitors at other White Lotus properties. As reported, the show’s creator, writer, and director, Mike White, stated:
“There’s no place I’d rather work than HBO and no one I’d rather work with than Casey Bloys, Francesca Orsi, Nora Skinner, and their incredible team. I feel very blessed to have this opportunity again and excited to reunite with my incredibly talented collaborators at ‘The White Lotus.’”
Naturally, the new season will bring more success for the premium network as, according to reports, the show received the most Emmy Awards of any show last year, including Outstanding Limited Series or Anthology.
‘Abbott Elementary’ Star Aims for EGOT Status
The Blast shared that Ralph talked about his future plans, including aiming for EGOT status. After his historic Emmy win, Ralph may join John Legend, Jennifer Hudson, Audrey Hepburn, Whoopi Goldberg and 13 others in winning four GOAT awards: the Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony awards. While accepting her award, the former singer surprised the audience with a powerful speech. He said:
“To anyone who has ever, ever dreamed and thought your dreams would never, never, never come true. I’m here to tell you that this is what believing looks like. This is what effort looks like. Never give up on you, because if you get Quinta Brunson in your corner, if you get a husband like me in your corner, if you get kids like me in your corner, and if you have friends like everyone who voted me, cheer for me, love me—thank you!”
The 66-year-old shared that he is producing a new Broadway play starring actress Audra McDonald; then he said, “I have an Emmy, so why not go for an EGOT?”
