Sheryl Lee Ralph can’t contain her excitement about her son Etienne Maurice’s recent engagement!
The beautiful actress opened up about her only son’s upcoming wedding and what it means for her family during a recent chat about her new charity campaign “Share Good Funds” back to school. Etienne himself shared the good news on his social media page, uploading multiple images featuring the highlights of the past month.
Sheryl Lee Ralph Has No Intention To Involve Herslef In Her Son’s Wedding Plans
Ever since his son got a yes from his girlfriend and ABC reporter Stephanie Wash, Ralph has been on cloud nine. She opened up about her excitement when she spoke to him ETinform publication:
“I’m so happy, I’m so inspired, I love it! The fact that Stephanie just fits in and fits into our family, you know, that’s all you can ask, that your kids are happy in all the different stages of their lives.”
Continuing, the Emmy-winning actress enthusiastically stated, “Now if I can see that happen for my daughter, I’ll be happy!” Although she expects to see the couple walk down the aisle as soon as possible, the “Abbot Elementary” star admitted that she has no intention of inserting herself into the wedding plans.

To achieve this, he will be outside and only offer his help if they ask for it. All he really wanted was for the wedding party to be “good”. In his words:
“I want the music to be good. I want it to be extraordinary because these are the days that, as you go through your marriage, you have to look back at the happiest day you were together and remember that day.”
Explaining what she meant further, the “Sister Margaret and the Saturday Night Ladies” star stated:
“When your partner is impatient and you need to be reminded, ‘Why am I doing this? Why am I married? What’s up with this person?’ But then, you think about your marriage and go, ‘Oh, now I get it. Now I remember that.’ And then you just shut your mouth, and you just let it go.”
Even more important to Ralph is being a grandmother because he already has a name that he likes his grandchildren to call him. As she revealed, “We called my grandma Nana, they called my mom Grandi, and I said, ‘Nuh-uh, Glamma,'” she said. “Glam-mom, effective Glamma [too], they can say that. I will be G-mama, yes.”
In case you missed it, Maurice and Wash announced their engagement with multiple images of a surprise proposal complete with roses and candles on Instagram. The moment, which took place on a New York City rooftop, also featured their loved ones, including Ralph.

The post begins with a sweet image of the newly engaged Wash showing off her bling as she and her man hold each other tightly. Another slide shows Maurice on one knee, peering closer at a reporter’s diamond, and a group photo with their family and friends.
The ‘Wonder Woman’ Actress’ Son Recently Talked About The Two Scariest Moments Of His Life
In the days leading up to the engagement, Ralph and his son have made headlines after the former spoke about how the 31-year-old survived two near-fatal incidents. While the first occurred during his college years, resulting in a significant concussion affecting his brain, the second occurred when he sustained multiple gunshot wounds during a robbery incident.
Shortly after the “It’s a Living” actor shared the story, Maurice was flooded with messages and calls from concerned parties. The reaction prompted him to record and post the clip to X, previously Twitter, to share what really happened.
“It was kind of crazy because I had to jump in here and explain myself. But apparently, there are several news articles and blogs with headlines from interviews that my mom talked about my DUI and when I got shot. And in the traumatic experience we both had to go through at that time,” he began the video.
After assuring the audience that he is in a good place, he states that the crash and robbery happened about a decade ago. He later emphasized that the event had happened at a different time, adding that it had deeply set him on the path to pursue now with WalkGoodLA.
At this point, Maurice turns on his camera to showcase the nonprofit’s “creative health space,” a hub for “community healing” and “community building.”
