Shillpa Kataria was born on 3 May 1975 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. She has completed her schooling from Canossa Convent High School. In 1990, Shillpa pursued a degree from the University of Mumbai.

Career
Shillpa started her acting career by making her television debut with the 90s comedy drama serial Abhi Toh Main Jawaan Hoon, as a supporting actress. She also appeared in the Zee TV series Dam Dama Dam. In 1999, Shillpa worked with Farida Jalal and Pooja Dadwal in the romantic drama serial Ashiqui. In 2002, she played the lead role in the drama serial Urmila. The story of the serial revolves around Urmila who struggles to control her life, dignity and make her own identity.
After working in serials, Shillpa turned to modeling and participated as a model in various beauty pageants. She was crowned as the 2006 Gladrags Mrs. India. In 2007, Shillpa won Mrs. India Globe and represented India in Mrs. Globe.
Shillpa gained immense popularity for playing the role of Maina Devi in Sony’s mythological series Sab Dharma Yoddha Garud.
In 2023, Shillpa made headlines for portraying Nirmala Mishra in the drama serial Dheere Dheere Se alongside Reena Kapoor Nijher and Rahil Azam.
