Shilpa Shetty started her career with the film “Gaata Rahe Mera Dil (1992),” but for some reason, the film was not released. He then made his debut with the film “Baazigar” in 1993.

His first lead role was in the film “Aag” in 1994. He made his Tamil debut with the film “Mr Romeo” in 1996.

His debut in Kannada cinema was with the film “Auto Shankar (2005).”

Controversy

In 2006, a Madurai court issued a non-bailable warrant against Shilpa Shetty for “obscenely posing” in a Tamil newspaper. The petitioner submitted that the paper published a “very sexy and modest explosion,” and alleged that the picture violated the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act 1986, the Young Persons (Harmful Publication) Act 1956, and the Indian Penal Code Section 292 (Sale of Obscene Books).

Shilpa Shetty is one of the contestants of the British reality TV show, ‘Celebrity Big Brother 5.’ She is alleged to have been the target of racism and bullying by several housemates particularly Jade Goody, Jo O’Meara, and Danielle Lloyd. Shilpa was mocked for her Indian accent and was even referred to as “Dog” by a contestant. Censorship of racist comments resulted in media coverage and responses from the UK and Indian governments. The show was even suspended for an 8th season and many companies even canceled their contracts with contestants accused of racism.

Controversy arose when American actor Richard Gere hugged Shilpa and forcibly kissed her at an AIDS awareness program. There was a lot of protest from the public and even an Indian court in Rajasthan issued an arrest warrant against Shilpa Shetty and Richard Gere.
