In 2006, the media alleged that Manav and his wife, Shweta Kawatra, distributed 200 SIM cards to their family and friends to collect more votes for the dance reality show “Nach Baliye 2.” There were rumors that they had bought a prepaid SIM card from a dealer in Andheri and registered it in the name of the dealer’s staff. However, the couple later dismissed the rumors and said that the stories were made up just to ruin their chances of winning the show.
