After his master’s degree, he served as a lecturer in English Literature at Nehru Mahavidyalaya. He is also a columnist for various publications, including Tarun Bharat, Lokmat, Nagpur Patrika, and, subsequently, Kirloskar. Shyam Manav has also conducted several Personality Development Workshops at different locations. In 1982, he founded the Akhil Bharatiya Andhashraddha Nirmulan Samiti to combat superstition. He claims that the source of superstition is not religion or God, but rather illogical or unscientific reasoning.
