A now-fired security guard was arrested Tuesday for allegedly having sex with the body of a 79-year-old woman in an Arizona hospital morgue after he was caught in the act by a co-worker, according to reports.
Randall Bird was charged with multiple charges after police launched an investigation late last month into the sickening allegations that took place in the morgue at Banner University Medical Center in Phoenix.
Although the 46-year-old’s job was only to take bodies to the morgue and put them in the freezer, Bird was caught with his belt undone, zips down and his uniform looking “a mess,” on October 22, the court heard. documents obtained by the news channel.

When security personnel entered, he quickly tried to cover the woman’s body before claiming she was having a medical episode, causing him to grab the victim’s body as she passed out and fell to the floor, documents said.
He insisted the body bag was torn and the zip pocket broke as a result, the workers did not believe him and reported it to their supervisor.
Bird was interviewed by police a few days later, again claiming he had a medical episode and did not remember what happened.

But investigators determined his DNA was left at the scene, and injuries were found on the woman’s body, according to documents also reported by ABC 15.
The woman reportedly died of natural causes.
“We are saddened and shocked by the alleged actions of an individual at Banner Medical Center–University Phoenix that resulted in his arrest on November 28, 2023,” hospital officials said in a statement, according to reports,
“Banner Health has been and remains committed to high standards that require every member of our team to treat every person, at every stage of life, with compassion, dignity and respect.”
Bird has been terminated and faces five counts of criminal mischief, a felony.
