A single mother of two was shot to death while using an ATM in suburban Chicago — alleged by a romantic couple linked to another string of armed robberies.
Jonnie Angel Klein, 32, mother of a 14-year-old boy and 10-year-old daughter, was at a Chase bank ATM in her hometown of Worth when she was attacked around 3pm on Saturday, ABC 7 reported.
Klein was later shot dead in the brazen attack while he was withdrawing cash, police said.
Family members told WGN-TV that he had just gotten off work before continuing on the doomed mission.
Two suspects – Tamara Jailynn Johnson, 22, and Jason Jerry Joseph Johnson, 23 – were arrested the next day after an investigation by the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force. It is not clear if, or how, they are related.
Both Johnsons are charged with first-degree murder — and “have been linked to several recent armed robberies in Chicagoland and northwest Indiana,” police Chief Timothy Denton said.
“Various firearms were found, one of which is believed to be the weapon used in the murder,” the police chief said.

In addition to being a mother of two, Klein is also a caregiver for her ailing mother, who has been battling cancer.
“It’s hard for his mother, brother, daughter. So, it was very sad to see,” a cousin, Nick Klein, told ABC7.
“He was always the light of our family, taking care of his mother, brother and children. He was always that person,” the cousin said.
