On Monday, Savanah broke her social media silence with her first post since Garrison died by suicide on March 5.

He touched the hearts of his Instagram followers with an honest comment about his feelings along with three images of the deceased.

The first caught young Garrison holding a baby, possibly his youngest sister. Meanwhile, the rest of the slides are recent images of the late 25-year-old posing in beautiful scenery.

Her grieving sister poured her heart out in the caption of the post, sharing how she is still coming to terms with Garrison’s death.

“Two weeks ago, on Tuesday, March 5, my brother Garrison took his own life,” he began, adding:

“I have a hard time understanding it. But I know now, more than anything else, that my brother Garrison is no longer in pain.

“Every time I see a car that looks like him on the road, I wonder if he’s on his way home from work before I’m reminded that he’s gone,” he continued.

Additionally, the media personality remembers Garrison every time she makes a peanut butter and jelly sandwich or looks up at the night sky.

Given the way he passed, it’s no wonder he also wrote an appeal to those struggling with their mental health.

“I sincerely hope that anyone reading this never underestimates how much loss they will go through,” Savanah stressed, adding:

“Persevere, for the sake of your family, for the sake of your friends, for the sake of the people who love you.”

She doubled down on her plea for those in the same situation as Garrison to get the help they need by ending her emotional post with the phone number of the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.

Fans Relate With Savanah’s Message

Savanah’s post generated several messages of support from her followers, including proud mom Janelle. The parents sweetly wrote: “I love this baby girl,” while other fans gave a more profound reaction. An IG user shared:

“I’m sorry, Savanah [red heart emoji]. Garrison loves you so much. He’s sick & doesn’t understand he’s going to break your heart. I’m sure if he knew the devastation you felt, he would have kept going.”

“My heart beats for you. You two have a sweet relationship. Thank you for sharing your pain and sorrow. You are not alone. Ever. You have the courage to share today,” the fan concluded. Another echoed, “I’m sorry. America grieves for you.”

Janelle Brown’s Oldest Daughter Shares Important Message About Mental Health

Savanah’s poignant reflection on her brother’s death comes after her sister Maddie’s post about social media’s negative impact on Garrison. He addressed the matter in a candid Instagram video on Monday.

Maddie began by thanking her followers for the outpouring of support she received after Garrison’s death. However, their love does not overshadow the downsides of social media, especially when it comes to mental health.

“Mental health is so important, and I don’t think we talk about it enough. And I don’t think we are enough to raise awareness,” he insisted before reflecting on how it had affected his late brother. In his words:

“It’s not bullying. It’s not a lack of love that Garrison has; it is mental health. And I’m going to keep talking about mental health and self-care until I’m blue in the face.”

Maddie Claims Social Media Has Negatively Influenced Garrison

In her message, Maddie explained that “social media isn’t real” because most people share highlights of their best moments online. While he notes that self-reflection is important for those who are unhappy with their situation, it shouldn’t involve comparisons to internet personas.

Elaborating on how his late brother fell victim to comparison, the 28-year-old added: “Garrison used to feel like he wasn’t doing enough because he was comparing himself to things on social media, and I don’t think that’s true, and I think we have to remember that.”

He continued: “So if you ever feel frustrated because you see someone posting something, remember it’s their highlight reel and you don’t see you don’t see all the stuff that’s going on in the background.”
