‘Sister Wives’ Meri Brown Accuses Kody Of ‘Not Owning His Part’ Amid End Of Marriage

Meri Brown is finally ready to move on from her estranged husband, but she’s not leaving without giving Kody Brown a piece of her mind.

The latest episode of TLC’s reality TV series “Sister Wives” features a bed and breakfast inn owner cutting all ties to polygamy — legally, spiritually and emotionally. Although the 52-year-old rose to fame as the first woman to tie the knot with Kody, she is the third of four wives to leave a polygamous marriage.

Who is to blame for the dissolution of their marriage?

Meri Brown Calls Out Kody For Publicly Trying To Save Face

This season of “Sister Wives” has been an emotional rollercoaster with the rocky dynamics of the Brown family amid the end of Kody’s plural marriage and estranged relationship with his older children. One would think the father of 18 would retain some of the bonds he has left behind; however, he broke off his last relationship with Meri.

On Sunday’s episode of the TLC show, the owner of Lizzie’s Heritage Inn announced her plans to leave Kody and spend more time in Utah, the location of her bed and breakfast business.

In her confession, the reality TV star explained she could no longer tolerate the patriarch’s inconsistencies, claiming he refused to take responsibility for ending their long union. In his words:

“I don’t like him putting all this on me, and he doesn’t have it either. He just has no interest. He said it to me in private, but he still didn’t say it here.”

Meri believes Kody is refusing to take responsibility for his part in the couple’s marriage dissolution because he wants to save face in public. However, the father of 18 once told the businessman that there would be no chance to rekindle their romance in private.

The patriarch’s reluctance to settle matters with his first wife was evident in the 54-year-old’s separation of the family’s Coyote Pass property. In his discussions with Meri and his only remaining wife, Robyn Brown, Kody did not offer the owner of the inn the same share of land as the other wives.

Naturally, the unfair situation upset Meri, who declared she would spend more time in Utah and probably not extend her lease in Flagstaff, Arizona. The entrepreneur cited Kody as the cause of the problem, saying:

“All of that coupled with everything that has happened and the statement Kody has made to me this year that I probably won’t be renewing my lease here.”

In his conversation with Kody, the Alameda native called out the patriarch for forcing his hand, telling him: “The things you said to me and about me this year, it changed things.” However, irresponsible Kody responded by saying:

“Now you do what I say. Why can’t we go to the page we made about where we are instead of what I said?”

The couple doesn’t see eye to eye on taking responsibility for the dissolution of their bond, but they agree it’s time for it to end. “I’m sitting here feeling like it doesn’t make sense to stay in a marriage that’s bound by responsibility,” Kody said, to which Meri replied, “I don’t think it’s fair to either of us.”

Unsurprisingly, the patriarch seems unfazed about the resolution of his relationship with Meri. In his confession, the 54-year-old man stated: “It is a long overdue negotiation. I mean, maybe seven wasted years for Meri, I don’t know. But we have agreed now, and I hope he has peace because I will.”

Leaving Kody is Always Part of Meri’s Choice

A few weeks before ending her relationship with Kody, the entrepreneur shared two options regarding her marriage to the polygamist. In the “Sister Wives” episode, the 52-year-old contemplates her future after a bad birthday celebration.

Meri tries to rekindle her romance with Kody by encouraging the patriarch to celebrate their wedding anniversary. However, the father of 18 children was unwilling to participate in the ceremony because he believed their marriage was over and did not want a relationship with the businessman.

Reflecting on the failed response to her confession, the bed and breakfast owner said there were two ways to resolve her relationship with Kody. To “continue to live the way I’ve been for the last eight years or so, which is, you know, an amazing, badass, independent person who’s officially married to someone but not emotionally, right?”

“And I can keep doing it. Or, I can end it. I can take steps to move forward to work it out,” the media personality concluded, hinting that she might be granting Kody’s wish to end their longtime marriage.
