The skydiver who died over the weekend after landing on a Florida front yard in front of shocked residents has been identified as a 69-year-old lawyer.
According to police, Frederick Morello, of Ormond Beach, was killed after crashing to the ground in Titusville around 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
Morello, who graduated from Georgetown Law School and works as an employment attorney based in Daytona Beach, is an experienced skydiver who posts photos of himself jumping out of planes on his website.
In the section titled “Fred’s Passion,” the lawyer refers to his pleasure-seeking nature.
“Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away,” reads the quote on the page, followed by dozens of images of himself skydiving.
James Sconiers told WKMG that Morello landed directly in his front yard.
“I asked the person lying on the ground, ‘Hey man can you hear me, can you hear me?’ But he didn’t answer,” Sconiers told the station.
He told the local Fox affiliate that Morello bounced off the ground “like a basketball” before coming to rest.

Another witness said Morello’s parachute was fully deployed before impact – but he still landed at a high rate of speed.
A resident said Morello’s body was in bad condition.
“I work in medicine,” Nicole Lacount told WKMG. “That’s the worst I’ve ever seen.”
The Skydive Space Center – located a few blocks from the scene – declined to comment on whether Morello had used their services before the crash.
But the lawyer seems to have jumped with them from the same departure point in the past.

Photos on Morello’s website show him engaging in his hobby in several different locations — including Austin and the Ukraine.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing, according to police.
