Megan Hilty is grieving the heartbreaking loss of three family members who recently died in a tragic plane crash.
On September 4, Hilty’s sister Lauren, brother-in-law Ross Mickel, and nephew Remy were reported to have died in a plane crash after crashing into Puget Sound in Washington. The incident deeply saddened mourners, and he took to Instagram to express his grief and open up about the death for the first time since the crash.

“On Sunday evening,” the Broadway star began her message, “a small float plane crashed into Puget Sound off the coast of Whitley Island. My dear sister Lauren, brother-in-law Ross and nephew Remy were on board.” She then mentioned, “To make this news even more devastating, my sister is eight months pregnant, and we’re expecting to welcome baby boy Luca into the world next month.”

The past few days since the crash have been the worst of Hilty and her family’s lives because “there are absolutely no words to express the depth” of their misery. The 41-year-old admitted that he had no immediate plans to publicly acknowledge the sad family tragedy, but given the misinformation spread by several news outlets, he did the necessary.
She stated that the store “misgendered” her niece while others did not mention her sister’s unborn baby, Luca. Hilty went on to reveal, “Lauren and Ross leave behind my niece, who we all hold in our hearts. Thankfully, she was not on the plane, and we ask that her name and personal information be withheld because she is a minor.”

One person was found dead on the night of the crash but has not been identified, while the US Coast Guard announced the following day the suspension of its active search for the nine people still missing.
