The sketch comedy show “Saturday Night Live” is burning down a viral Christmas photo of the Royal family after Prince William and Kate Middleton were accused on social media of failing to properly Photoshop their family Christmas card in which Prince Louis appeared to be missing a finger.
“SNL” used a Meghan Markle joke during a sketch, saying she could lend a “finger” to the royal family if they needed it. The Prince and Princess of Wales have reportedly hit back at the alleged Photoshop, with reports claiming that both were “embarrassed” by it.

“Saturday Night Live” blatantly mocked Prince William and Kate Middleton’s family photo for their 2023 Christmas card. This comes after many fans pointed out that five-year-old Prince Louis was missing his middle finger in a family photo.
During Saturday’s show, “Weekend Update” co-host Colin Jost hosted a news segment and joked about the strange photo. He said: “The Christmas photo released by the royal family features a poor Photoshop job where Prince Louis’ finger appears to be missing.”
The comedian went on to post a photoshopped image of Meghan Markle with her middle finger up. Jost then said, “And this is sweet. Meghan Markle said she had a finger they could use if they needed it.” The joke was met with laughter from the studio audience, drawing a smile from Jost.

The “SNL” sketch comes a week after the release of a family photo by the Prince and Princess of Wales. The couple posted a black and white image of themselves and their three children, George, Charlotte, and Louis, on Instagram with the caption, “Our family Christmas card for 2023.”
The family also released a statement saying they were “overjoyed to share new photos of their family.” However, shortly after its release, social media users on X, formerly known as Twitter, discovered Louis’ missing middle finger.

One comment read, “Louis is missing a finger, this must be the worst photoshop ever.” Another wrote, “Prince Louis’ finger is missing. Also, they have photoshopped other people’s feet onto his feet. I certainly hope the taxpayers don’t pay for it.”
Despite the Photoshop claims, it’s possible that Prince Louis simply bent his middle finger, giving the illusion that it was missing. The young royal is known for his mischievous character and pranks at various Royal events. As recently as Friday, Louis blew out Charlotte’s candles as they attended Kate’s annual Christmas carol concert.

A source close to William and Kate spoke Us Weekly about how the couple responded to Photoshop claims and criticism of their Christmas cards.
They said they were both “embarrassed” by the missing finger and “as shocked as everyone else” when fans noticed the mistake on Louis’ hand.
Photographer Josh Shinner also ponders shooting for family photos on Instagram. His post read, “It’s been a challenge photographing the Prince and Princess of Wales and their families for Christmas portraits this year.”
His statement continued, “Without a doubt one of the most relaxed and fun seats I’ve ever had, and I now have a whole new set of jokes that are right on my level thanks to the kids.”

Not long after William and Kate were slammed for their festive cards, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Harry and Meghan, released theirs.
The couple’s Christmas card features a stunning photo of them clapping and smiling during the closing ceremony of the Invictus Games, held in September in Dusseldorf, Germany.

Harry and Meghan’s card has elegance as it features a beautiful green background with the words, “On behalf of the offices of Prince Harry & Meghan, the Duke & Duchess of Sussex, Archewell Productions and the Archewell Foundation, we wish you the best of luck. very Happy Holidays. Thanks for all the support in 2023.”
Notably absent from the Christmas card are Prince Archie and Princess Lilibert. This is very similar to Harry and Meghan’s 2022 Christmas card, which also does not feature their children.
Like Harry and Meghan, King Charles III and Queen Camilla did not take new photos for their Christmas cards. Instead, they chose an old photo from Charles’ coronation ceremony.
