Son of “Saturday Night Live” star Dana Carvey, Dex Carvey’s official cause of death has been revealed two months after his unfortunate passing.

Last year, the 32-year-old man was found by first responders lying unresponsive on his bathroom floor after a 911 call by his girlfriend.

After Dex’s death was revealed, his mother and father paid tribute to him, expressing how sad they were for the loss of their son.

According to the official autopsy report, Dex Carvey died of “drug toxicity,” specifically from fentanyl, ketamine, and cocaine. The manner of his death has also been ruled an “accident”.

The discovery comes two months after his parents, Dana and Paula Zwargerman, mourned his passing in a heartfelt statement shared on social media.

They wrote at the time, “Last night we experienced a terrible tragedy. Our beloved son, Dex, died of an accidental drug overdose. He is 32 years old. Dex packed a lot into those 32 years. He’s very talented in many things – music, art, filmmaking, comedy – and pursues them all with passion.”

In the lengthy statement, Dana and Paula emphasized that their son “loves life” and that “when you’re with him, you love life too.” They noted that he “made everything fun” and, most importantly, “loved his family, his friends and his girlfriend, Kaylee.”

“Dex is a beautiful person,” their statement continued. “Handmade birthday cards are a treasure. Will will miss him forever.”

Concluding, they extended their love to others struggling with addiction, saying, “To anyone struggling with addiction or who loves someone struggling with addiction, you are in our hearts and prayers.”

The former “SNL” star had a huge career in the late ’90s but decided to step away from the spotlight to focus on his family and help raise his sons, Dex and Thomas, with his wife, Paula.

While reflecting on her decision to take a break from Hollywood, Dana told People magazine in 2019, “I have friends who are stressed out about fading or not being hot. I’ve never been that engaged. I have a lot of drive to try to be the best I can be, make people fall in love with what I do and do it again. But the other side of me fine wherever I am.”

The comedian added that when his children appeared in the picture, he did not hesitate to throw away the attention to focus on the father.

“My wife and I do two humans, so I think I might have to make some adjustments based on two humans being there,” Dana said at the time.

Singer Chantal Kreviazuk commented, “Praying for you both as I read this and go to sleep. So devastated for you both. Sending every grain of love in my heart.”

One individual wrote, “I am deeply sorry for your loss. May his beautiful memory be not only a blessing but a message to anyone who needs to hear it.”
