So…Is Shaquille O’Neal A ‘Flat Earther’ Or Not?? Here’s What He Had To Say!

NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal wants to make it known that he is NOT a flat Earther, despite the many comments he has made over the years on the controversial topic. Confusion about whether O’Neal really believed the Earth was flat has circulated for years thanks to specific comments he made and his sense of humor. On his latest episode of “The Big Podcast with Shaq” titled, “The Big Walkie Talkie,” O’Neal cleared the air…mostly.

Round Or Flat? O’Neal Set the Record Straight

“Stop the pressure! For all the idiots who take me seriously when I say the Earth is flat, that’s not my problem,” he told podcast co-hosts Nischelle Turner and Spice Adams. “I’ve been giving myself to the world since 1992. You should know when I’m down. You should know when I’m trying to be serious. You should know when I’m business minded and you should know when I’m playing, and if you don’t know that, that is not my problem.”

Revisiting Old Comments About Being Flat Earthers

In 2017, the NBA star discussed his flat Earth theory on “The Big Podcast with Shaq.” His argument begins by discussing how he often drives coast to coast. “I don’t go up and down at 360 degrees, and all that gravity stuff, have you looked outside Atlanta lately and seen all the buildings? You mean to tell me that China is below us? China below us? No. The world this is flat,” he said.

During a recent interview on The Kyle & Jackie O Show while visiting Australia, his 2017 comments entered the chat. When asked if he believed the comments he made years ago about the Earth being flat, O’Neal said, “it’s a theory” and went on to explain why. “I flew 20 hours today, not once did I go in this direction. I flew straight,” he explained. He also said that his plane was not “upside down” which is what he believed would happen if the Earth were round. Another funny argument he had was about the Earth rotating. “You know how they say the world goes round? I’ve lived in a house on a lake for 30 years, not once has the lake turned left or right,” he said.

Agent O’Neal Tells Him to “Stop” the Conspiracy

After the interview, O’Neal got a call from his agent about the flat Earth discussion. “My agent called me and said, ‘Man, you’ve got to stop that.’ And I said, ‘Stop what,'” O’Neal said. “And he said, ‘It’s a conspiracy.'” O’Neal went on to explain that the host is a comedian, and he asks some stupid questions, and the only answers to stupid questions are stupid answers. “However, I flew 20 hours in the plane like I said, and my plane didn’t do that not once, I just said. That’s all I said,” he joked.

To settle the flat Earth discussion and perhaps settle the curiosity of whether or not O’Neal is just messing with us, Turner said, “Let’s put it on the record everybody – Shaquille O’Neal doesn’t think the world is flat.”
