A 35-year-old footballer has been struck by lightning and killed in a freak accident during a match in Indonesia — with the shocking tragedy captured on video.
Septin Raharja was in the middle of a friendly match between the Football Boots Indonesia squad and FC Bandung on Saturday when he was hit by a bolt and collapsed on the field at around 4:20pm on Saturday, according to a report by The Independent.
The footage, which went viral online, shows other players rushing to Raharja’s aid.
The injured footballer was still breathing when he was rushed to a local hospital but was later pronounced dead, according to the outlet.

According to reports, Raharja is just the latest footballer to be struck by lightning in recent years.
Last year, another player from Indonesia passed out for 20 minutes after being struck by lightning during the Soeratin U-13 Cup.
In March 2004, footballer Jiang Tao, 18, was killed while training at Singapore’s since-demolished Jurang Stadium after he was hit with a bolt while with Sinchi FC, the Independent said.
