Socialist Rep. Jamaal Bowman pulls fire alarm as Dems try to delay vote on GOP stopgap spending bill

Socialist Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) pulled the fire alarm in the House office building on Saturday as Democrats tried to delay a bipartisan vote on the Republican stopgap spending bill.

The wild incident at the Cannon Building was recorded on camera and confirmed by several witnesses.

“An investigation into why it was pulled is ongoing,” a spokesman for the GOP-controlled Administration Committee told The Post, confirming the incident.

Bowman’s spokeswoman Emma Simon admitted her boss made a mistake.

“Congressman Bowman didn’t realize he was going to set off a building alarm because he was rushing to make a quick vote.

Members of Congress regret any confusion,” he said.

Bowman insisted on journalist after which he pulled the alarm handle – because he thought it would open the door.

The office of Staten Island GOP Representative Nicole Malliotakis told The Post she will move to have Bowman expelled from the chamber.

“NY Democrat Jamaal Bowman literally pulled the fire alarm to stop and obstruct our efforts to force a vote to keep the federal government open. Pity. A criminal investigation needs to happen,” said state GOP Congressman Nick Langworthy.

Creating a false fire alarm is a misdemeanor in the District of Columbia and is punishable by up to six months in jail.

“No one in this country is above the law,” Bowman himself said a few months ago in a tweet attacking former president Trump and praising his various allegations.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said he would have a “discussion” with Democratic leader Rep. Hakeem Jeffries on the Bowman situation.

“But this should not go unpunished. This is a shame,” McCarthy said in a press conference Saturday.

The speaker added that he would call for an investigation into the matter by the House Ethics Committee.

“This is the United States Congress, not a New York City high school. To pull the fire alarm to disrupt the proceedings when we are trying to legislate to AVOID A SHUTDOWN is pathetic…even for a member of the socialist squad,” wrote Malliotakis on X, previously Twitter.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) ripped left-wing pols for disrupting Saturday’s activities before demanding that the Justice Department charge her with obstruction of official proceedings — the same charge that was used against the Jan. 6 rioters.

“Democrats will do absolutely anything to shut down OUR government because billions won’t go to their favorite country: Ukraine,” wrote the conservative brand on X, previously Twitter.

Capitol Police confirmed to The Post that a fire alarm was pulled at the Cannon Building just after noon and that the building was evacuated before it was determined there was no threat.

The Post has reached out to Bowman for comment.
