Sofia Vergara Sued For Falling To Pay $1.7 Million For Home Improvements

Sofia Vergara has been sued for allegedly skipping money owed on several home improvements.

In new court papers obtained by The Blast, the “Modern Family” superstar has been accused of failing to pay contractors more than $1.7 million for an extensive renovation of her Beverly Hills home.

Vergara’s $26 million mega-mansion is located in Beverly Park, an exclusive guard-gated community high in the mountains above Beverly Hills.

According to the documents, Vergara obtained the services of Reside Custom Homes [RCH] in April 2022 for construction work on his property and agreed to pay compensation for the contractor’s work and fees.

However, the “America’s Got Talent” judges ignored the deal once construction was complete.

RCH claimed that although the project was essentially finished by December 2022, the Colombian-American actor allegedly requested substantial additional work beyond the initially agreed upon scope.

This caused the project to be extended until March 2023, when the mother-of-one finally moved back into the luxury residence.

The construction company pointed out that Vergara requested additional work, including installing clay plaster in three powder rooms, an office, a cabana bathroom, a dining room wall, and the guest house’s living room.

In addition, he reportedly asked the company to remove and replace the stairs, all of which they claimed he had covered the cost of.

The contractor further claimed that the 51-year-old made guarantees to settle the bill, allegedly saying he had approved invoices totaling nearly $900,000 and had “already” instructed his money manager to make payments.

Unfortunately, RCH contends that Vergara failed to meet his commitments, leaving the company with an outstanding balance of $1,700,492.64.

Once again the “Escape from Planet Earth” star’s home is in the news, showing off her sprawling garden in a video of her chasing her pet dog, Petunia, as she chases her niece, Claudia.

In the heartwarming footage, Claudia is seen darting across the well-kept lawn, distracted by the stepping stones that guide the way to the outdoor pool. The actor’s canine companion followed him and during the chase gave fans a glimpse of some empty white lounge chairs by the water.

On the other side, viewers see poolside cabanas featuring columns around the entrance, reminiscent of the opulent atmosphere found in luxury hotels. As Hello! Magazine detailed, Vergara and her now-estranged husband, Joe Manganiello, purchased the 17,000-square-foot home in 2020.

In addition to the large living room in the main house, the mansion includes a guest house, a sports court, two motor courts that can hold four cars and nearly two acres of land. The landscape also features emerald green lawns, tall olive trees, and pathways decorated with stone fountains.

Four months after she and Manganiello announced their split, The Blast reviewed legal documents showing that Vergara had filed a disclosure declaration showing that she had given all of her financial details to her ex.

According to his legal team, they sent the financial information via email on November 8, 2023, meaning the next filing is expected to be related to the settlement.

Notably, and in many celebrity cases, this step precedes settlement, marking the final filing before the parties enter into divorce proceedings. The Toty founder has previously shared his views on the marriage’s decline, admitting that it played a role in what he described as an “interesting and very difficult” year.

“I had a very interesting year. I don’t want to say ‘bad’ or anything like that, but it’s very interesting and very difficult. I’ve been through a divorce this year, the long SAG strike, I’ve seen my friends struggle — some have had to take their kids out of school or have problems with their mortgages, so it’s been a weird, weird year,” Vergara revealed.

Despite the challenges, the Sofía Jeans boss chose to remain optimistic, stating, “It’s not bad, I think everything will be resolved, everything will be fine and I’m very excited for next year.”
