Soham Shah (also written as, Sohum Shah) is an Indian actor, producer, and entrepreneur, known for his work in the films ‘Ship of Theseus’ (2015) and ‘Tumbbad’ (2018).

Soham Shah was born in 1983 (age 36 years; as in 2019) in Sri Ganganagar City of Rajasthan. Growing up, he was very interested in movies.

Career
Soham Shah made his debut with the 2009 film “Baabarr” in the lead role of ‘Baabarr Qureshi.’ Although his first film did not do well at the box office, he continued to grow rapidly to make a name for himself in the film industry.
Soon, Soham started his own production house called ‘Recyclewala Films,’ to create content-based films.
His breakthrough came with the film “Ship of Theseus (2012),” an acclaimed film, in which he played the role of a stockbroker.
She then appeared in the film “Talvar (2015)” directed by Meghna Gulzar. Soham was appreciated for his role as a cop in the film.
After “Talvar,” he was seen in the role of ‘Sameer,’ Kangana Ranaut’s love interest in Hansal Mehta’s “Simran (2017)”.
So far, “Tumbbad (2018)” is Soham’s most popular film. The film was showered with superlatives such as “must watch” and “widely original film.” The film is considered a horror fantasy, a treasure hunt, an emotional father-son drama and a cautionary tale about the consequences of endless greed. The film later won many prestigious awards.

- His father was a commodity broker. As a teenager, Sohum used to help his father in a small town of Sri Ganganagar. Recalling that time, Soham said-
My father was a commodity broker and I started working with him early on. This was the era before cell phones; I once left a message for him on the landline. I have a loud voice, and people think I am a girl, and they used to say to my father- Apne dukaan pe koi ladki rakhi hui hai, kaam karne ke liye.”
- He loves watching Shah Rukh Khan movies and is a big fan of his.
- It was Shah Rukh Khan’s film “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995),” which spurred him to make his career in acting. While talking about Shah Rukh and DDLJ (Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge), Soham said-
I saw Shah Rukh Khan in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, and was blown away. It’s a combination of things — the leather jacket, his travels around Europe, drinking beer from cans and the way he woos everyone in the film, even Babuji.”
- Being a big fan of SRK and his film DDLJ, he went to watch DDlJ alone at Mumbai’s Maratha Mandir when the film completed more than 1000 weeks in theatres.

My real estate business is where my bread and butter come from. And, I made films only because I got such support. I am from a small town (Sri Ganganagar) in Rajasthan and my father is a commodity broker earning Rs. 3,000 per month. I started working with him when I was 15-16 years old. I started my own real estate business. I moved to try my luck in films only after I established myself financially. Moving to a big city like Mumbai is very difficult. To do that without financial stability is foolish.”
- Once he got his business settled, Soham left for Mumbai. When he gets there, Soham finds that the way everything works in the city is different, everything is too fast. Recalling his early days in the city, he says-
I was surprised by the number of people. Everyone is always in a hurry. I’m afraid to order a cup of coffee. I miss my family…I miss the simplicity of home. But it’s a race here and I realize I have to run too.”
- While in Mumbai, he went to several acting workshops and connected with a family friend, who helped Soham connect with people from the film industry. After several auditions and rejections, he was finally able to bag his debut film “Baabarr.”
