Taylor Swift made a giant ‘pivot’ in her career three years ago.
The world changed due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, which inadvertently caused the 33-year-old singer to experience a significant creative period, during which he wrote a large number of stripped-down songs, and worked gently, acoustic kings Justin Vernon and Aaron Dessner.
Swift’s previous career pivot would also coincide with a major style change six years earlier; she swapped her trademark ‘country curls’ for a sophisticated bob haircut, which coincided with a sonic shift with her music. ‘Swifties’ fall in love with singer “Tim McGraw” in middle age for upcoming country songs. In 2014, Swift was ready to trade in her cowboy boots for the shiny pop music of James Dean, and not every Swiftie is on board with the trendy music change.
Some ‘Swifties’ Are Not Big Fans of Swift’s Next Musical Pivot
Change can be hard to get used to, especially when it comes to a beloved pop star. With such a loyal fan base, a great vocal push can arise. When Swift released “folklore” and “forever,” two records that resulted from the creative highs she experienced during the early quarantine days of the pandemic, some Swifties weren’t nearly as excited about Swift’s creative pivot as the “cardigan” singer, herself. Three years later, social media discussion has inspired the idea of Swift reportedly ‘hating’ the last album.
“folklore,” released in July 2020, started trending on X on Tuesday. ‘Swifties’ share their feelings about the record, and discuss their thoughts on where they believe it fits in Swift’s discography.
What Are Fans Saying About ‘Folklore?’
The “folklore” hashtag on X is filled with posts love this one, read “Breaking my silence: Folklore is my favorite album, This one doesn’t dare.” Many fans also revealed which songs “skipped” for them.

One Swifties start a thread for other fans to post their most controversial “folklore” related opinions.
“It’s by far the most underrated album and should be underrated,” Swiftie said write.
“Folk stories are too hyped[d]. recognize it as their favorite album because they can defend it as higher and top tier,” another said said.
“Ik how strongly ppl feel this but,, folklore isn’t more cohesive than before (btw I’m not saying it’s /not/ cohesive, just that they both are),” another Swiftie weighed.

“I don’t like folklore and forever like everybody else,” another Swiftie write. “I still enjoy it, it’s not bad and I have a few songs that I like, and are one of my favorites on the album but overall the album is not my cup of tea,” they concluded.
