Son found naked after allegedly killing his mom and her dog laughed throughout first court appearance

A disturbed son was found lying naked in his room after he allegedly killed his mother and their dog – blaming it on witchcraft and laughing throughout his first court appearance, telling the judge it was “always pleasant.”

Tyler Dazey, 28, of Dubuque, Iowa, has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of his mother, Jennifer Ann Dazey, 46, who suffered “significant” injuries to her face, neck and head, KWWL reported, citing police.

Two of his fingers were also amputated during the brutal attack, which also claimed the life of the family dog, whose body was found on the living room sofa with significant head injuries.

He later claimed his mother used witchcraft on him, calling her a “whore,” CBS 2 Iowa reported.

One of the dead woman’s friends came across the gruesome scene early Thursday after calling to visit.

Police found Tyler naked in his room, where he was “not very responsive” to officers, KWWL said.

After obtaining a search warrant, police found a tactical tomahawk in the bathroom and its holster on the dining table, Law & Crime reported.

Investigators have not said whether they believe the tomahawk, which they sent along with other evidence to the state crime lab for testing, was the murder weapon.

After being released from a local hospital, Tyler was questioned by police and said the tomahawk was his, KWWL reported.

He claimed his mother was in his bed practicing witchcraft – and that she had been doing that to him for years.

When asked about her death, Tyler reportedly exercised his Miranda rights — but described his mother as a “whore,” CBS 2 Iowa reported.

Tyler is charged with first-degree murder and animal abuse causing death.

During his initial appearance in court, Tyler laughed and told Judge Mark Hostager that it was “always pleasant” before the end of his video appearance of the attacker, the Telegraph Herald reported.

A judge ordered him held on $2 million bond, cash only, in the Dubuque County Jail. He has not entered a plea and a public defender will be appointed for him.
