Sonali Singh, better known as Sonali Phogat, is an Indian actress and politician. He is the National Vice President of Mahila Morcha BJP. He died of a heart attack in Goa on 22 August 2022.

Sonali Phogat made her television debut in 2006 by appearing as an anchor in the show Haryanvi on Doordarshan. In 2019, he appeared in the web series “The Story of Badmashgarh.” Sonali has also featured in the music video of the Haryanvi song “Bandook Aali Jaatni” (2019).
She played the role of Nawab Shah’s wife in the TV series “Amma: Ek Maa Jo Laakhon Ke Liye Bani Amma” (2020). In 2020, he joined the reality game show “Bigg Boss 14” as a wild card contestant.

Political career
Sonali Phogat joined the political party Bharatiya Janata Party in 2008. After that, she was appointed as the National Vice President of BJP Mahila Morcha.

In 2019, he contested the 2019 Harayana State Assembly Elections from the Adampur Constituency. However, he lost the election to Congress leader Kuldeep Bishnoi by a margin of 29,471 votes. Phogat also worked for the BJP in the tribal areas of Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh. Later, he was put in charge of the BJP’s Scheduled Tribes wing in Haryana, New Delhi, and Chandigarh.
Controversy
- Sonali was heavily criticized for her speech during a rally in Kampung Balsamand in Hisar. On 8 October 2019, Phogat asked people to chant ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and said that those who did not chant must be from Pakistan. However, he later apologized for making such a statement.
- On June 5, 2020, a video went viral where Sonali was seen slapping one Sultan Singh with her slipper after he made some inappropriate comments. The incident occurred when Sonali went before Sultan Singh, a member of the Agricultural Produce Market Committee, with a list of farmers’ complaints.

Death
On August 22, 2022, Sonali Phogat, reportedly died of a heart attack in Goa. On 25 August 2022, her post-mortem report was released which confirmed multiple injuries on her body following Sonali’s family alleging that Sonali was raped by two of her assistants before they poisoned and killed her.
