Sonu Kakkar is an Indian playback singer. She is the elder sister of Bollywood singer Neha Kakkar.

Sonu Kakkar was born on Saturday, 20 October 1979 (age 40 years; as in 2019) in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand. His zodiac sign is Libra. Sonu did his 8th class from a school in Rishikesh and completed his further schooling from an open hall. He never attended college. He was inclined towards music from a very young age and started singing in Jagrans when he was only 4 years old. As she grew older, she started receiving offers to sing in jagarans from towns and cities near Rishikesh.

She later moved to Mumbai and participated in Channel V’s singing reality show, Indian Pop Star. Although Sonu did not win the competition, he was spotted by the music director, Sandeep Chowta, who promised to give him a chance to sing in his next film.

Career

Sonu Kakkar started his singing career in 2003 with the song “Babuji Zaara Dheer Chalo” from the movie ‘Dum.’ After that, she lent her voice for the songs of Seduction Saavariya, Ishq Da Tadka, Kar Mundya, and Lawani. In 2014, he released the single “Urban Munda” and gained widespread popularity.

Sonu has sung songs in various languages. She made her Kannada debut with the song “Oora Kannu” from the movie ‘Ranga SSLC;’ Telugu debut with the song “Pavan Laa” from the movie ‘Kokila;’ Tamil debut with the song “Dhinam Dhinam Deepavali” from the movie ‘Varalaru;’ Marathi debut with the song “Mastani Jwanit Mazya” from the movie ‘Nau Mahine Nau Diwas;’ Malayalam debut with the song “Dil Lena” from the movie ‘Kalimannu;’ and Punjabi debut with the song “Gustakh Akhan” from the movie ‘Jag Jeondeyan De Mele.’ He has also sung the Nepali song “Salaam Lijiye Kabool Kijiye” from the movie ‘Kohinoor.’
