Sooraj Thelakkad was born on Monday, 4 September 1995 (age 26 years; in 2021) in Perintalmanna, Kerela. His zodiac sign is Virgo. He did his primary education at Government LP School, Thelakkad, after which he completed his schooling from GHS Vengoor. He graduated with B.Com from St.Mary Puthananghadi College. Inspired by his father, who was fond of miming, Sooraj started miming for the first time in 5th grade when he was 10 years old. Later, he did his M.Com. In 2011-12, he participated for the first time in the 52nd State School Children’s Festival held in Thrissur. He got an A grade in Kalolsavam Kerala School mimicry in 2012 and a second A grade in 2013.

He began his career as an impressionist and mimicry artist. She made her debut with the Malayalam film Charlie directed by Martin Prakat in 2015. In 2017, she did cameos in Cappuccino, Udaharanam Sujatha, and Vimaanam. He rose to fame with the lead role of a robot in Ratheesh Poduval’s Android movie Kunjappan Version 5.25 (2019).

Initially, it was believed that the film team had used real robots for the filming. Sooraj hid the fact that he was a robot for at least 45 days. Post the revelation of Android Kunjappan’s true identity, social media was flooded with posts appreciating Sooraj. Various celebrities like Guinness Pakru took to their Facebook to congratulate him. In an interview, Sooraj revealed that it took him an hour every day to dress up as Android Kunjappan and a special chair was placed on the sets for him to rest in the robot costume. He added,
During filming, I was exhausted because the robot suit was so hot. Within four days, I had a cough and a cold from sweating. My co-actor Suraj told me it would be better to shave my hair. At first, I was not ready, but finally I decided to look for a shaved Kunjappan,”

Television
His breakthrough in television came with Cinema Chirima, which was a comedy show aired on Mazhavil Manorama. He made his television debut in 2012 as a supporting artiste in Bhima Jewels Comedy Festival Season 1, which aired on Mazhavil Manorama. He starred in the Comedy Super Nite franchise from 2015 to 2018. He did shows like Comedy Nights with Suraj (2019), Funny Nights with Pearle Maaney (2020), and Comedy stars Season 2 (2014) as a comedian.

- He is also known as Master Sooraj.
- Sooraj loves to drive cars and has always dreamed of having a driver’s license; however, he found his height a barrier to obtaining a license to drive a four-wheeler. In an interview, he said,
It is my dream to get a four-wheeler license from the Motor Vehicle Department (MVD),”
He added,
I like driving cars. However, my height was a hindrance. I looked for options and found a solution, the ‘Solution’ was a car with modified seats.”
He received his license from the Perinthalmanna regional transport office on September 17. Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI) Perinthalmanna Binoy Varghese explained that there is a provision to give license to people who are not tall and use ‘adapted vehicles’. In an interview, he revealed that after receiving his driver’s license, he went on a road trip. He said,
I went on a personal trip to Wayanad after getting my license. It is inevitable. I will plan more leisurely trips after the threat of Covid subsides,”

When I was in high school, I was less than 90 cm tall. It is now 110 cm. Despite my physical limitations, I was given opportunities and noticed because of my short stature.”
- According to several media reports, doctors stated that both Sooraj and his sister suffered from stunted growth due to genetic problems. Rumor has it that his father and mother are distant relatives. In an interview, he said,
My sister and I are like this. It is a growth hormone problem. Father and mother are related. Their marriage was not a romantic marriage, but an arranged marriage. One day my father called me and told me that you will never grow up and will rise in life through art or other abilities. Friends are taller than us. My father said this when he saw all this and understood all this”
- Sooraj gets a house built according to his height. His former house owned by his father became dilapidated. The new house specially built for Sooraj and his sister has shelves, cabinets, switches and chairs according to their height for their convenience. The house has been completed at a cost of Rs 17 lakh.
