Soumi Chakraborty was born on May 3 in Behala, a small town near Kolkata, West Bengal. He has completed his schooling from Berhala local school. Later, Soumi went to Sarsuna College to further his studies.

Career
Soumi Chakraborty entered the television industry by playing Beena in the romantic comedy-drama daily soap Raadha in 2016-17. The show is directed by Rajat Paul and Subhasish Mondal. After making her debut, Soumi appeared in Star Jalsha’s mythological drama series Mahapeeth Tarapeeth. She played the role of Yogini alongside Nabanita Das and Sarbik Pal.
After working in several serials, Soumi gained popularity for reprising the character of Kamala in Rani Rashmoni’s Zee Bangla serial Karunamoyee. In this series, he worked with Samata Das, Indrajit Deb and Shyamoupti Mudly and the series was directed by Rupak Dey.

In November 2022, Soumi made headlines for playing Ruchira popularly known as Ruchi alongside Pallavi Sharma and Rubel Das in the Zee Bangla serial Neem Phuler Modhu.
