Rep. Jamaal Bowman paid high praise to an Israel hater who has long celebrated Hamas violence in Israel.
Bowman introduced Norman Finkelstein at a panel discussion in Westchester County on the Israel-Hamas war last Sunday and noted that he was “a little surprised” because he “watches it all the time on YouTube.”
Finkelstein was a very divisive figure in the Jewish community. His 2000 book “The Holocaust Industry” accused Jews of exploiting Nazi memory to promote Israel.
In 2007 he was denied tenure at DePaul University amid accusations of antisemitism.
On the day of the Oct. 7 Hamas terror attack in Israel that left at least 1,200 dead, Finkelstein praised the “heroic resistance in Gaza,” and compared Hamas’ actions to the Jewish Warsaw Ghetto uprising in World War II.
During the mass slaughter Hamas terrorists committed mass rapes and beheaded babies.

“It warms every fiber of my being,” Finkelstein declared on his Substack. “The scene of the smiling children of Gaza as oppressors of haughty Jewish supremacy, has finally been humbled.”
In his fiery speech Sunday, first reported by Jewish Insider, Bowman accused the United States of funding the “mass murder and mass starvation of the people of Gaza,” and accused “powerful lobbies” of intimidating lawmakers into silence.
“Nobody’s telling the truth,” Bowman thundered. “The fact that you all have assembled this incredible panel to tell us the truth about what has been going on there for 75 years is very important to this community. We have given ourselves myths and lies and propaganda as fact, and truth and knowledge, and as a result of that, people are consistently dying and being slaughtered and killed, mostly women and children.”

Alan Dershowitz – a longtime critic of Finkelstein – called him a “notorious antisemite” adding he was not surprised to see Bowman befriend him.
“Finkelstein is the equivalent of a Ku Klux Klan member advocating the death penalty for blacks. Finkelstein has advocated the death penalty for Jews,” Dershowitz said. “Shame on Bowman for abetting antisemitism, but I’m not surprised. Bowman has been part of the problem for a long time. Not part of the solution.”
Bowman was caught on tape pulling the fire alarm in the Cannon House Office Building in late September, just before the House was scheduled to vote on a government funding bill. The building was later evacuated and he was charged with misconduct.
