In March 2022, the Bonnar family experienced tragedy after a house fire destroyed their home in Nevada. According to a TMZ report, a residential fire was reported to the Henderson Fire Department on Monday, March 28, at approximately 3 p.m.
“When help arrived on the scene, fire and smoke could be seen from outside the home,” TMZ reported. “Due to the high winds and the close proximity to the neighbor’s home, first responders called the Clark County FD for backup to extinguish the fire. The fire was extinguished almost an hour later.”

For his landmark victory over Forrest Griffin in the first season of “The Ultimate Fighter,” Stephan Bonnar, a retired mixed martial artist, was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2013. Stephan received a six-figure deal for the fight, and he fought 15 times for promotion. He competed in the UFC for eight fights, going 7-8, winning over fighters such as Keith Jardine, Sam Hoger, and Krzysztof Soszynski while losing to notable opponents such as Rashad Evans, Anderson Silva, and Jon Jones.

In October 2021, Stephan revealed in an interview that he “had infected abscesses on both sides of a broken vertebra he said he suffered during a professional wrestling match.”
The infection caused him to be hospitalized for more than a month. And according to the fighter, if a staph infection is not treated, it can be fatal.
“When [the doctor] said it was like that, it was really, kind of, wow, it surprised me, like, here I got again,” Bonnar told the outlet. “I almost, like, fucking died here. How did it get like this? It just got to where I was injured, and a week later I tried to go into the ER and got shot down and was upset about it. But at the same time, I had built up all this staph, and yes, it was really potentially fatal, and you don’t think about it. You’re just frustrated that you can’t get hospital treatment – you don’t even know what you need it for.”
