A third person was arrested in connection with the murder of Savanah Soto on Wednesday when the accused killer’s stepmother was charged for allegedly helping dispose of the bodies of a pregnant teenager and her boyfriend after they were shot to death.
Myrta Romanos, 47, was arrested just days after Christopher Preciado, 19, and his father, Ramon Preciado, 53, were arrested in connection with the murders of Soto and boyfriend Matthew Guerra, according to San Antonio police.
Romanos was indicted on felony charges of abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence and concealment of human remains.
Christopher Preciado allegedly shot and killed the couple using Romanos’ gun, police said.
Surveillance footage showed Romanos traveling with his stepson and Ramon, his life partner when they allegedly left their home to dispose of the body before they returned.
When police interviewed Romanos on Jan. 4 following the arrests of Christopher and Ramon, he claimed he thought he was asleep at the time Soto and Guerra were killed and their bodies transported, according to an affidavit obtained by KSAT.

“There was a lot of information on social media that there was a third person involved,” said San Antonio police Lt. Michelle Ramos during a press briefing broadcast on the television station.
“Our homicide detectives are aware of that, however we are looking for probable cause to make the arrest and present the best case to the DA’s office.”
Romanos was wearing a black Ozzy Osborne shirt as he was chased out of the police station by investigators. He was silent as he entered the back of the police cruiser.
Christopher Preciado was charged with first degree murder after he allegedly framed the young couple in a drug deal gone bad, police said earlier.

The accused killer claimed to police he shot the couple in self-defense after Soto and Guerra drove to his home to sell him weed, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by the Express-News. Authorities believe that version of events does not match the evidence though.
Ramon Preciado was charged with abusing a corpse after he allegedly helped move the body.
Soto, who was nine months pregnant, and Guerra were found in their car outside the apartment complex on Dec. 26. The baby in their womb was also declared dead.

Soto was reported missing days earlier before she was supposed to be induced into labor.
“At this time we are confident that there are no more suspects,” Ramos said on Wednesday.
