Steven Tyler has another response to the woman who accused him of sexual assault.
The Aerosmith singer has been embroiled in a lawsuit since last year over something that allegedly happened in the 70s. Julia Misley, formerly Julia Holcomb, claims that the rock star had a sexual relationship with her more than 50 years ago when she was a teenager.
Steven Tyler Continues Legal Battle Against Sexual Assault Allegations
The 75-year-old’s legal team has issued a second response to a lawsuit brought by Misley, who accuses the Aerosmith frontman of sexually assaulting her. In April, Tyler filed his initial response to the allegations, listing several defenses to the claims made in the lawsuit filed in December.
follow PEOPLEher attorney filed new documents in Los Angeles County Superior Court, arguing that the Plaintiff, Misley, cannot cite the “Walk This Way” singer’s memoir as a cause of “emotional distress” during the lawsuit proceedings.

Papers filed Friday also state that the memoir is protected under “free speech” and that Tyler did not identify his accuser in his writing. Court documents obtained by the publication state:
“Tyler’s statements in his memoirs, including his statements about his relationship with Plaintiff, therefore involve matters of public interest and qualify as protected activity.”
The “We’re All Somebody from Somewhere” hitmaker argued that there was a two-year statute of limitations on the allegations against him, citing his 2011 memoir, “Are the Noises in My Head Bothering You?” as evidence.
Additionally, Tyler claims that her statements in the book “do not qualify as outrageous conduct intended to cause emotional distress. Nor can the plaintiff show that she suffered severe emotional distress because of the memoir.”
According to the filing, the document goes on to state that Misley was the one who continued to openly discuss her relationship with the artist for more than a decade and even referred to herself as his “ex-girlfriend” in her professional biography.
This suggests that he has not suffered emotional stress from his memoirs but has used his fame to his advantage. It further states that his books are “personal records of his extraordinary life experiences.”
‘Love Is Your Name’ Singer Asked To Dismiss Sexual Assault Claim
After Julia Misley filed the lawsuit in December 2022, just days before the California Child Victims Act deadline, Tyler denied the allegations and asked the court to dismiss the case.

As reported by The Blast, the “(It) Feels So Good” singer argued that the Plaintiff had consented to the sexual relationship and had immunity because he was her legal guardian at the time.
In a legal document obtained by PEOPLE, the “Lizzie McGuire” star claims that Misley “suffered no injury or damage as a result of any action by the Defendants.” He also stated that even though he suffered damage, it was not caused by him.
In addition, Misley’s legal team accused the actor of “The Wonder Pets: Adventures in Wonderland” of having “gassed” both the court and their client with his answer. It was also noted that while the allegations made in Misley’s lawsuit initially did not name Tyler, they described a relationship with a 16-year-old girl that matched details in the actor’s 2011 memoir “Are the Noises in My Head Bothering You?”
In the book, she refers to the affair as a “romantic and loving relationship” while describing it as an “unintended humiliation.” He also claimed that the girl’s parents had signed over custody to her, so he wouldn’t be arrested for taking her out of state and that he had brought her to visit with him.
Misley stated in her documents that the “Get a Grip” singer was aware of “fame” and “power” over her when she was a child and was unable to resist it. She also claimed that he “forced and persuaded” her that their relationship was a “romantic love affair.”
As for how they met, Misley had attended one of the “Two and a Half Men” guest star concerts in Portland, Oregon, in 1973. After telling her of his age and his troubled home, he allegedly used it as an excuse to “perform[ing] various criminal sexual acts on him in his hotel room.
This led to a year-long affair, which ended after he allegedly convinced her to have an abortion at the age of 17.
