This is not your typical sting operation.
Seattle police and a suspected car thief were attacked by a swarm of wasps when the insects’ nest was unwittingly disturbed during the bust, according to newly released body cam footage.
The harrowing incident occurred when officers responded to a call about a series of attempted carjackings in the East Queen Anne neighborhood on August 13 that involved the suspect using a knife to try and swipe the vehicle as they drove through a tunnel.
Police immediately attacked the 22-year-old suspect, who then fled into the forest and ignored officers’ orders to surrender.
Video shows police chasing and eventually catching the suspect — but as they wrestle him to the ground, everyone is quickly surrounded by angry wasps, whose nest is right next to them.
“Ah! I’m getting stung, man,” one of the officers was heard saying.
Another cop shouted, “It’s yellow jackets everywhere, man!”

The insects can be seen swarming the officers and suspects, stinging them repeatedly as the police grunt in pain and try to rush the accused car thief out of the woods.
The officers can be heard telling the suspect, “It’s over” while urging him to hurry up and get away from the wasps.
The officers eventually took the suspect out as they continued to be stung and offered him water when he was finally handcuffed and in a police vehicle.

The suspect was taken to Harborview Medical Center for treatment, along with an officer who suffered an arm wound during the arrest.
The unidentified suspect was later booked into the King County Jail on charges of assault, destruction of property, and attempted robbery.
This isn’t the first time police have been caught on video being stung by angry insects.
In May, a volunteer police officer and Air Force veteran was stung up to 100 times by a swarm of bees while trying to evacuate a neighborhood besieged by the insects – after a construction worker accidentally disturbed their large hive in Los Angeles.
