Substitute-teacher couple busted for prostitution to make extra money or ‘they’ll starve’ after cops pull off undercover operation

Two Tennessee elementary substitute teachers, who are also a married couple, have been cited for prostitution after police completed an undercover operation, with one saying they did it for extra money for several years or they would “starve.”

Ezra Fry, 22, and David Acevedo, 25, who both work at Hamilton County Schools, were arrested in August.

Police began the undercover raid when an officer contacted Fry on an “illegal prostitution website” posing as “john” who wanted to have a sexual encounter, according to WTVC, citing a police report.

Fry, who used the pronouns they/them, responded by saying it would cost $150 and shared what they would and wouldn’t do.

During the exchange, Fry allegedly told undercover police they usually go to clients’ homes but insisted it was safer to do it at theirs because their husbands would be present and it was “john’s” first time.

Fry then led the officer into a back bedroom and took his money before police identified himself and arrested the couple.

Fry and Acevedo “both made statements during and after the search to include both stating that ‘they have to do this or they’re going to starve,'” according to the report.

“Both parties advised officers that they were Special Education teachers at Woodmore Elementary and Calvin Donaldson Elementary. During an encounter with an officer, Fry stated, ‘I don’t care, everyone has seen me [private parts],’” the report added.

Police also found “a large amount of drug paraphernalia” and a .22 caliber rifle after searching the home.

Fry and Acevedo received several misdemeanor citations including for illegal drug paraphernalia, prostitution or promoting prostitution and illegal possession of a firearm.

Fry, who works for Education Management and Staffing Solutions (ESS) a company that sends staff to school districts, has not worked in Hamilton County schools since August, a spokesperson for the school district told WTVC.

During the exchange, Fry allegedly told undercover police, they usually go to clients’ homes, but because it was “john’s” first time, Fry preferred to do it at their homes because it was safer because their husbands would be there.

Fry’s Instagram bio lists them as “Rabid Queer, Gender Anarchist, College Dropout,” while Acevedo’s account, which is private, lists him as “Trans, Disabled, Queer, Puerto Rican, ExEd Teacher.”

Fry came under fire this year when she was reportedly the subject of allegations of being a transgender woman, working at an elementary school in the Hamilton County School system.

The allegations emerged after pictures of them standing in a school corridor wearing pink clothes and hair went viral on social media.

This is not the first time Fry has come under fire this year, as she has reportedly been subject to allegations of being a transgender woman, working at an elementary school in the Hamilton County School system. Facebook

“I’m not a binary person, and I keep my gender out of my work,” Fry told the Chatanooga Times in April. “Obviously this thing blew up because people thought I was.”

ESS told Fry the day after the April incident, that a request had been sent asking them not to return to the school.
