Birth & Early Life
Sumedha was born to Mrs. Sarla Karmahe and Mr. Gyanesh Karmahe in Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh. Sumedha could not speak a word even after reaching the age of 2 so her mother took her to the doctor to cure her blueness.
Before participating in the reality show, she occasionally performed with the Raj Bharti Orchestra. Later, music director OP Nayyar saw her and praised her for winning the Chhattisgarh Saregamapa competition in 2004. Encouraged by him, she started dreaming of becoming a pop star.

Career
Sumedha started her career while auditioning in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2007 and went on to become one of the most popular singers in India. After the success of Saregamapa 2007, he traveled to various countries such as the United States, Canada and the West Indies to perform in a series of concerts.
Later, Sumedha made her first playback song Chakhri from the movie Tahaan, directed by Santosh Sivan. Sumedha later gave her voice in some popular songs like Ek Chand Badalon Mein, Toota Jo Kabhi Taara, Jaane Jaan Dhoondta, Tum Tum Tum Ho etc.
