Sumit Anand is an Indian stand-up comedian who is popular for his light-hearted style of comedy. He is a bank manager turned stand-up comedian who is famous for making his audience laugh.

Sumit Anand was born on Sunday, 15 September 1985 (age 35 years; in 2020) in Rohtak, Haryana. He did his schooling from DAV Centenary Public School, Rohtak, and he pursued his B.Tech. in Computer Science from Kurukshetra University (2002-2006). He then did his PGDM in Marketing/Finance at Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management (2006-2008), New Delhi.

Corporate Sector
Sumit worked as a Private Wealth Manager at HDFC Bank from June 2008 to August 2009 after completing his MBA. He then worked as a Portfolio Manager at IndusInd Bank from August 2009 to September 2010 in New Delhi. He was the General Manager of digital sales and marketing for PaGaLGuY.com (2010-2015), and later, he worked for Ideatory as a Business Consultant. He has been working with Ideatory ever since.
Stand up comedy
Sumit started doing stand-up comedy in 2013. His first video on YouTube was titled ‘Stupid Indian Announcement,’ which has since been removed. He is regularly featured on NDTV Prime’s comedy show ‘The Rising Stars of Comedy,’ and Sumit is among the few Indian comics to have performed at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival (twice) and London’s Soho Theater at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe (the world’s largest . art festival)
Sumit became famous after the video ‘My Job, My Home & The Maid’ went viral. The video has garnered more than 12 million views on YouTube.
Sumit has staged more than 100 shows across India (as of 2020). Sumit teamed up with Abhishek Upmanyu, another popular Indian stand-up comic, in a special called “The Stupid Show.”
Sumit gained massive popularity through his solo shows “Many Mistakes Of My Life” and “Nothing About Godzilla,” and he often made mockery of Hollywood Godzilla movies through his show “Nothing About Godzilla.”

- Sumit is known as an occasional drinker.
- Since childhood, Sumit was interested in public speaking; however, he was uncomfortable speaking in his mother tongue, i.e., Haryanvi, while communicating with the locals, and after establishing himself in stand-up comedy, Sumit began quoting humorous examples from his conversations with people in his native place growing up.
- Sumit in his blog (chatanand’s blog) shared the childhood story of how his name changed from ‘Amit’ to ‘Sumit.’ He changed his name because the son of a tea seller near his house also had the same name.
- Sumit admits to being anti-social and very lazy, but it seems to suit him in his laid-back style of comedy.
