Sumit’s ultimate goal was to become a wrestler, and he continued to train at the akhara. After he was involved in an accident at the age of 17, however, his wish remained unfulfilled. While riding a bicycle, he collided with a tractor which resulted in the amputation of his limbs.
After learning that he would never wrestle again for the rest of his life, he was devastated. However, he intends to participate in other athletics. He sought advice from Virender Dhanakar to pursue his dream of becoming a shot putter. Sumit was introduced to Naval Singh, a renowned javelin coach, by Dhanakar.
