Actor Jensen Ackles is perhaps best known for his role as Dean Winchester on the hit CW series “Supernatural” opposite Jared Padalecki.
Ackles has moved on to other roles, most notably Soldier Boy in season 3 of “The Boys.” However, the Texas native also has a role in the Western film, “Rust,” which is slated to resume production this spring.
‘Supernatural’ Star Jensen Ackles To Resume Filming ‘Rust’ With Alec Baldwin

Production on “Rust” was suspended in October 2021, after a gun held by actor Alec Baldwin went off and hit cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, who was killed. Director Joel Souza was hospitalized but survived.
In February 2022, Halyna’s husband Matthew filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Baldwin and other “Rust” producers. A few months later, in October 2022, the lawsuit was settled. As part of the settlement, Matthew was named an executive producer on the project, which should resume filming in January 2023.
At this point, production has not yet resumed, although it is not clear why. It’s possible producers are still scouting locations as they move from New Mexico to California.
MEGA In the same month they were scheduled to begin filming, actor Alec Baldwin and “Rust” actress Hannah Gutierrez-Reed were charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter in the death of Halyna Hutchins.
On Tuesday, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that production will resume this spring. Melina Spadone, an attorney for Rust Movie Productions, said that Baldwin still has scenes to shoot in the project, though it’s unclear how the criminal charges against him could affect filming. The scene in the church where Halyna is shot was reportedly rewritten.

Spadone also named Bianca Cline, who worked on the critically acclaimed “Marcel the Shell With Shoes On,” as the film’s new cinematographer. According to Rust Movie Productions, Cline will donate his salary to charity and has the “blessing and support” of Matthew Hutchins.
Spadone also noted that many old cast and crew members will return to their roles. These include Travis Fimmel, Frances Fisher, and Jensen Ackles. While the “Dark Angel” star has been tight-lipped about the charges Alec Baldwin is facing, he did comment on the gun safety training he received on the set of “Rust” before the fatal incident.
Ackles Talks To Fans About The Gun Safety Training He Received On The Set Of ‘Rust’

In a video taken at the “Supernatural” convention in Denver in October 2021, the “Ten Inch Hero” star explained the gun safety training he received on the set of the ill-fated Western.
“I have a call at 6 am tomorrow to hold a mass shooting,” he told the crowd. “They told me to pick my gun… the shield said, ‘Do you have experience?’ and I’m like, ‘a little bit.’” It’s unclear if he was talking about “Rust” shield Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who faces two counts of involuntary manslaughter in Halyna’s death.

The 44-year-old actor used his hand to show how he was shown: “’This is how you load it, check it’s secure. Do you want it hip-drawn or cross-drawn? I’m just going to put some blanks in there and just fire some shots at the hill.’”
“I walked out and he was like, ‘Make sure you pull the hammer all the way back and aim your sights,'” Ackles recalled. “And I was like, ‘Okay, I get it.’”
Halyna Hutchins Family Files New Lawsuit Against ‘Rust’ Production
MEGA
Although fans may be eager to see Jensen Ackles return to the screen, it is unclear at this time whether the new lawsuit filed by the parents and sister of Halyna Hutchins will affect the production once again.
Earlier this month, they filed a new wrongful-death lawsuit against Alec Baldwin, the producer of “Rust,” and various companies and individuals they claim are responsible for Halyna’s death.

At a press conference the family’s attorney, Gloria Allred, claimed “There has been no outreach by Mr. Baldwin, no apology,” adding that they are filing a lawsuit against anyone “who may be responsible for the death of Halyna Hutchins. May she rest in peace.”
The family sued for loss of consortium, negligence, and intentional infliction of emotional distress, among other things, and sought unspecified damages.
