Virginia House of Delegates Democratic candidate Susanna Gibson slammed her opponent for engaging in “drain politics at its worst” after a video surfaced of her and her husband performing online sex acts for cash.
Gibson, a 40-year-old mother of two, who is running in the hotly contested race to represent the state’s 57th District, hosts several live webcam shows on the adult streaming website Chaturbate, the Washington Post revealed in a sweeping report on Monday.
The nurse practitioner has since lashed out at her political opponents, accusing them of playing dirty politics.
He called the controversy “an illegal invasion of my privacy designed to embarrass me.”
“My political opponents and their Republican allies have proven they are willing to commit sex crimes to attack me and my family because there is no line they will not cross to silence women when they speak out,” Gibson told CNN in a statement on Tuesday.
Susanna Gibson blasted her opponent for playing “gutter politics.”
“My opponent and his allies know that the people of this district are on our side on this issue, so they submit to the worst politics,” he added.
“There is too much at stake in this election and I will not stop fighting for our community.”
His opponent in the race for a House seat, Republican businessman David Owen, said his campaign learned about the video on Monday “like everyone else.”
“I’m sure this is a difficult time for Susanna and her family, and I remain focused on my campaign,” Owen told The Post in a statement.

The video was posted to a publicly accessible archive on the Recurbate website in September 2022 after Gibson declared his candidacy, the Washington Post first reported.
Gibson apparently maintained her Chaturbate profile, called “hotwifeexperience,” after announcing her campaign in July 2022 — uploading at least one image of herself on the sex-streaming site a month later.
He gained about 5,770 Chaturbate followers – which he repeatedly demanded more “tokens” in exchange for certain actions in “personal” shows.
He told his fans that he was “raising money for a good cause.”

Gibson’s attorney, Daniel P. Watkins, said that the video being distributed violates Virginia’s revenge porn law, which makes it a crime to distribute or sell nude or sexual images of another person with the intent to “coerce, harass,” or intimidate. “
“We are working directly with federal and local law enforcement to hold offenders accountable and protect Mrs. Gibson’s rights as a crime victim,” Watkins, founder of Meier Watkins Phillips Pusch LLP, told The Post.
The lawyer cited a 2021 Virginia Court of Appeals decision that ruled it was illegal for a man to secretly record his girlfriend during a consensual sexual encounter — even if the video was never shared with anyone else.
Gibson’s campaign did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.

It’s unclear whether Gibson will remain in the race, though he said the scandal “will not silence me.”
The Virginia Democratic Party declined to comment on the controversy, as they seek to regain their majority in the 100-member Virginia House.
Democrats control the Senate by a four-vote margin, and Republicans control the House of Representatives by the same margin, with four seats currently vacant.
The race has drawn huge amounts of spending from both parties, which are waging a bitter legislative battle as rising Republican star Gov. Glenn Youngkin looks to continue his conservative agenda with full control of state government.
The Republican Party and state Assembly Speaker Todd Gilbert did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment on Tuesday.
The district voted in favor of Youngkin by a margin of 51.2% to 48.3% in 2021, but in the 2022 congressional midterm elections, the split in the district is 50% Democrat to 49.1% Republican.
