Court records show that van der Sloot intends to plead guilty in federal court in Alabama on Wednesday, according to reports, after previously pleading not guilty.
The Dutch man was extradited to the US in June to face fraud and extortion charges linked to the disappearance of Holloway, 18, who was on his way to graduate school in Aruba.
He was last seen leaving the bar with van der Sloot, who was 17 at the time.
