Accused killer Kaitlin Armstrong spent months “exercising vigorously” and meticulously planned his escape from custody this week – only to be caught minutes after running through a Texas neighborhood.
Armstrong, 34, allegedly faked a leg injury that would have allowed him to get out of an Austin jail cell to the city doctor’s office, where he spontaneously sprinted away from two corrections officers who were escorting him, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by the Austin American-Statesman.
The suspected killer, who has a history of running away, ran more than a block into a residential area before officers were able to recapture him.
Armstrong was hauled back to prison, where he is awaiting trial for allegedly killing professional racer Anna Moriah Wilson, 25, in a fit of rage after learning she had an affair with Armstrong’s then-boyfriend while the pair were dating.
According to Travis County Correctional officials, Armstrong put it to good use for months.
Months of prison video footage shows the former yoga teacher “vigorously exercising” throughout the facility, as well as running, squatting and practicing her former profession.
Armstrong continued his intense exercise regime while complaining of an injury that required special medical attention, the document said.

Officials believe he specifically complained of a leg injury so he wouldn’t have to wear leg guards when he was taken to the doctor’s office.
He had just finished an outside appointment and was led by two correctional officers back to a transport vehicle “as he ran,” officials said last week.
Armstrong had somehow dislodged his left hand from his arm restraint – potentially with “a thin piece of solid [of metal]” investigators later found in a search of his cell.

The plan failed when Armstrong removed his striped uniform pants during a short leg chase, “which revealed he was wearing thermal pants underneath, in an attempt to disguise his appearance as a prisoner.”
He was trying to climb a fence when the two officers pulled his back to the ground, causing both to suffer minor injuries to their arms and knees, the document said.
Armstrong is now charged with escape causing bodily harm, an additional felony count on top of the murder charge.

The prison break was not the first time Armstrong had tried to escape since being framed for the 2022 murder — he spent 43 days in a Costa Rican hostel before he was hunted down by US Marshals.
The accused killer drastically changed his face and used several aliases as he moved around the country trying to establish himself as a yoga instructor.
